NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Are they tearing it down or continue using it for the HS playoff games ?

Jimbo

Following last night's tremendous Akron/Buffalo game, current and former players and coaches honored the 68-year history of the stadium.

This was a special occasion in many ways:

1.) This was the 324th and final Zips game in history.

2.) The game turned out to be an exciting ride of high's and low's for each team, resulting in a nail-biting 43-40 Buffalo victory in four overtimes.

3.) The game was a match up of the two teams tied for first place in the Mid-American Conference's Eastern Divison with identical 5-4 (3-2) records entering the game. A win, which Buffalo achieved, guaranteed [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl_eligible"]Bowl eligibility - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] and a very good chance to play for in the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_Championship_Game"]MAC Championship Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:2009_MAC_Championship.png" class="image"><img alt="2009 MAC Championship.png" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6b/2009_MAC_Championship.png/150px-2009_MAC_Championship.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/6/6b/2009_MAC_Championship.png/150px-2009_MAC_Championship.png[/ame] in December.

4.) The Akron loss meant that Buffalo holds the season tiebreaker and that the only possible way that Akron could have a chance to play for the MAC Championship would be to win its final two games and for Buffalo to lose its final two games.

The Rubber Bowl will now be demolished. So long old friend.

The Zips will move into their new stadium: Summa Field at InfoCIsion Stadium on September 19, 2009 against the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Hoosiers_football"]Indiana Hoosiers football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:IULogo.png" class="image"><img alt="IULogo.png" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/8/81/IULogo.png/150px-IULogo.png"@@AMEPARAM@@en/thumb/8/81/IULogo.png/150px-IULogo.png[/ame]; the first game of the 2009 season.

IMO, this is a not-so-great college football Saturday.

Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Michigan State are off, and the big guns (other than Florida) are playing some bad opponents.

Other than Notre/Dame Navy and Texas/Kansas, there are no intriguing matchups for me to savor.

Just checked the schedule for later in the year.

West Virginia plays Pittsburgh the day after Thanksgiving.

After years of Nebraska/Colorado and Texas/Texas A&M playing on that day, looks like they've switched.

IMO, that game could decide who gets the Big East's BCS spot.

Big news for the Boston College/Florida State game:

...
Wow! Night game for A&M and Texas. This must be the first time ever! And on Thanksgiving night, when we'll all be in a Tryptophan coma.

&M won games they had no business winning the last 2 times they played Texas

Those were decent A&M teams that made bowl games. This year, they are awful.

Besides, A&M has already been lit up by Harrell and Bradford, and you know Colt McCoy will want to redeem himself for the last two years.

I'm not saying A&M WILL win, just that it may still be interesting. Funny things happen in rivalry games. Remember Pitt-WVU? If anything goes wrong for Texas it would have major implications on the BCS. What if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech and all 3 are tied for the division lead?

In a Big-12 3-way tie, BCS standing is the tie-breaker. Of course, OU could beat Tech, and then lose to Oklahoma State. Then Tech would be the South champ, because of the win over Texas.

Road to the title: Floridas Challanges.

The Best Defenses in the Nation

No. 3 South Carolina, No. 5 Florida State and No. 4 Alabama.

The Florida State gams is in Tallahassee and we all know how those Bama fans can fill the Georgia Dome.

As a Texas Tech fan, I know all about a daunting road- this is Florida's murderers row.

I have much respect for TT, which is why I hope OK beats them, id hate to play them in the NC if we make it ;)

Tech has one hell of a final schedule as well, with Texas, OK, and OKState
