NCAA Football 2007-08

I would rather protect the reputation of the school and confrenence. You think people say the Big 10 is weak right now, wait to see what they say if OSU goes and loses.

So you would rather NOT get there than have the opportunity to do great things in a Championship game .....

You cannot go into games thinking that you will lose, you will never do anything with that attitude.

You go into the locker room with 50 young men and tell them that you (as the coach) don't think they would do very good against an opponent and see how many happy men you have.
You would be thrown out of the locker room and never let back in.

I never said that they would lose. If you read my comment it was IF.

IF they make it we will see if Tressel has learned anything about having a 7 week layoff.

i would bet you on a mizzou - ou game. they had till the end AT norman. on a netural field and on a roll i will take the tigers

I don't want to see OU play Missouri again either, but I wouldn't call the Alamo Dome a neutral field either, the way OU travels.

I also need Missouri to lose as I have already bought the rope and tiger doll to hang outside the office of one of my employees on Monday:D

thats a good point. never thought of that, how far is that from norman?

Like I said, NO ONE is sitting prettier than West Virginia. Here how it will get real interesting...IF Kansas comes back and BEATS Mizzou, going undefeated into the Big 12 Championship...Kansas will MORE than likely be ranked #1. NOW, if Oklahoma beats Kansas....I would have to say Oklahoma deserves to be #2 over Ohio State by virtue of beating the #1 team in the country.

Scary how much weight this Mizzou vs. Kansas game has on everyone EXCEPT West Virginia.

Salsa,
Lots of teams have beat the #1 and # 2 teams this year .....
Also Oklahoma was ranked #10 in the BCS coming into the week, I don't see them passing All those teams to be #1-2

Now that Mizzou has beat Kansas ...
Do they have enough to be emotionally high 2 weeks in a row ?
Can they beat Oklahoma ?

Looks like this week the BCS will look like this :

WV
Mizzou
OSU

Then WHO ???

LSU , Arizona State ????

LSU lost ..... when OSU lost they dropped all the way to 7th.
How far will LSU fall ?

Jimbo

BCS will probably be something like this:

1. Missouri/WV
2. WV/Missouri
3. Ohio St.
4. Georgia
5. Virginia Tech
6. USC
7. LSU
8. Kansas
9. Oklahoma
10. Florida

It depends where all of the former LSU first place votes from last week go to this week. Between the two human polls from last week, WV had a combined two first place votes, with Missouri getting one. With Missouri beating a higher ranked team than WV did, could be close this week in each human poll. Missouri should get a larger benefit in the computer rankings by beating a higher rated team as well.

Won't really matter as long as both win next week (which this season is saying a lot). It's just a number--so long as it's a 1 or a 2, and not a 3.

Jimbo...#1 has lost only twice...with LSU and Ohio State. #2 has lost 6 times this year. And IF Colorado can beat Oklahoma and Texas Tech pounded Oklahoma for 3 1/2 quarters...and don't let the final score fool you, Oklahoma was dominated in that game. AND a late rally where you beat the teams in the Top 5 does WONDERS. Prime example is Ohio State, they lost and dropped drastically....then they beat some good teams AND other teams kept losing....a good late rally. Then we go back to West Virginia....they have quietly kept winning...and then as a statement destroyed a completely overmatched #20 UCONN(geez, where is that UCONN fan that was SO boisterous just a couple of month before....?). In the end, it is simple...they more likely kill PITT at home and they will be in that BCS Championship game. Ohio State's ONLY hope is that Mizzou loses to Oklahoma.....if that does not happen, it will be Mizzou and West Virginia....2 teams that NO ONE...including th experts thought would be there....cool.....I like it.....:D:cool::up

After watching both the OU/OKSt game and the Mizzou/KU game, I feel like OU will beat Mizzou in the Big12 CG. The Sooners are on a roll right now and KU (exposed as just a mediocre team now) gave Mizzou a pretty good game.

I think tOSU is in after next week. If I were a Bucknut, I'd go online and try to snag some of those reserved LSU and KU MNC tickets! :up

I too will be rooting right along with you dantheman, but not for the reasons you may think.
Yes a Mizzou win will help the Buckeyes, but Coach Pinkel finally has it going in the right direction down there, just as some thought he might be gone if the team didn't do better.
Coach Pinkel was up here at Toledo for several years after leaving Washington...
So that make Coach Meyer (Bowling Green, Ohio) and Coach Pinckel (Toledo) both coached in the MAC and moved on to better and bigger programs. :up

jimbo, thanks for rotting with me for the win over kansas. i am guessing your loyalty to the black & gold will be short lived however lol!!
GO MIZZOU

well, i would say mizzou is on a pertty good roll to. it was a good game but i would give kansas a bit more then mediocre.
also, mizzou will be playing for alot more then the sooners.you would think the tigers would be more motivated playing for the national championship game. even if ou wins they wont get into the big game.
hope im right anyway! lol

Coaches Poll is out:
1: WVU (37) 1467
2: Mizzu (17) 1454
3: tOSU (6) 1383
4: Georgia 1232
5: Kansas 1161
5: VT 1161
7:LSU 1134
8 OU 1126
9: USC 1073
10: Hawaii 958

14: Illinois 674 (only mentioning this since if tOSU makes the NC game, Illinois should be elig for the rose bowl)

Remember, its not just the ranking that matters, its also the margin!

Ok, I think those are right....but HOW does Ohio State get 1st place votes? IF ANYTHING, they should have been split between Mizzou and West Virginia....

Why shouldn't Ohio State get first place votes. They have one more win than WV and they are tied with Mizzou for wins and losses.
