NCAA / BCS Bowl Games 2011-2012

'

If Va is a very good team by ACC standards, then I dont know what to tell you.
Auburn is a middle of the road SEC school, playing without their starting RB, and lost their starting QB in the game. Yet it is not close.

Really?? you want to play the "ohh they were without players game?" Ok

Virginia was missing two of its injured top defensive players in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Auburn on Saturday night, and it showed.

But hey as I said they lost..ohh well don't like UVA anyway but figured it would have been a better game than it turned out - they were just still on their heals from that even worse spanking from VT a month ago. Did find a very honest posting and from what I gather looking at stats from the game last night looks dead on.

You clearly didn't watch the game. Neither offense could really be stopped, but Auburn had the ball more as a result of a blocked punt safety (UVa would have had better field position on that drive if their return man didn't lose the ball in the lights on the punt). Auburn recovered their own onside kick, giving them two consecutive possessions (they scored a TD on both). Neither defense showed up, but UVa's was on the field more because of special teams.

Did we get beat in special teams. Yes. Did we get beat in every othe phase of the game...not by much. Could have been a lot closer with the same level of play by each team .The score was not indicative of how good the teams looked. Auburn was better, UVa looked better than the 43-24 point score.

That came from another posting over on ESPN.. but the stats show this - seems special teams mistakes screwed UVA big time in that game.

Yes. Really

Not playing a game, just stating a fact.
A very middle of the road Auburn team did not have their most productive offensive player, and the starting qb got knocked out of the game early.

Yet they still smoked Va.
Now I am not saying Virginia was any good, I don't think they were at all, just responding to a post.

UVa along with the rest of the ACC is not very good. We have very few wins this year against BCS schools this year. We even lost to Vandy.

Except for Clempson beating Cow U and FSU beating a bad Gators team, do we have any OOC wins to crow about?

Yep and UVA was out a few star players themselves and was better than they appeared to have played last night - again I didn't get to watch all of the game - to busy ringing in the new year but I've seen several of their games. Now while I don't care for UVA at all, VT fan ya know but I do say they played a crappy game and were better than what they showed last night and seemed to have been still on their heals from the VT smack down they got.

Schedules are what they are...can't help that, and many teams don't have the chance to play too many others as thats just how divisions fall...gotta accept it and roll on. FSU just beat ND, NC State beat a good bowl team... been alot of good teams this year in the ACC - look at the numbers..the stats. Lets hope VT does something in this bowl game but I have my reserves, not cause VT is a bad team as they are not they are still a good team but Michigan and Robinson are lookin good this year and VT has been hammered on Defense this year..no getting around that fact.

Lol really? Hey UVA hasn't been the same since VT stomped its tail at home over a month ago.... Props to Auburn they showed up - UVA just didn't execute at all like they were in previous games. I watched some of it but was too busy crackin open bottles to care... All the little Hoo's going back to HOo'Ville now :D

In a way glad they lost...don't like UVA at all - rival and everything ;)

I'd say this year 65% of the ACC is relevant just as much as the rest of the conferences - you win some you lose some but at least VT and Clemson stand tall this year. While I see Clemson winning this Orange Bowl game against a crappy WVA team.... VT may have issues unless they come out playing and not waiting till half time to get off the damn bus, wouldn't surprise me if they lost and to me really I wouldn't care - I still pull for em and will still support em. Go hokies and happy new year.

But hey.. here at Sat Guys Sports..a new year starts off new things happen..

I mean I dont see any team in the ACC relevant this year.. I can search at every other conference (with the exception of the big east) and find a team or two who are very great teams. In the ACC I just cant find any. I had high hopes of FSU really breaking out this year but that fizzeled. And Miami is just a dead former power who will not be back anytime soon. Just to much against them. Vtech is dominating conference (which isnt saying much) but just cant win the big ooc game.

We are looking at the numbers and stats and thats how we come to the conclusion the ACC sucks this year (and the last few years) Yes scuedules are what they are but the fact ACC lost more then they won means something. FSU beat a crappy ND team, a ND team that has not been relevant in a decade. The only reason anyone talks about them is because of there history. And NC State beat a no body.

Sorry but facts are facts. The ACC has not won ANY not a single solid OOC game this year. They have played a few but not won any.

FSU beat ND OOC..solid ND team IMO but I'm kinda like salsa anymore just seems sad to keep protecting "MY" Conf when it really doesn't matter... VT is my team, I support them no matter who they beat on their schedule - sure they need to win some more recently played OOC big games but they have beaten the LSU's, the Bama's and other teams in the past but people hardly dig back beyond 5 years just to avoid getting the old "I told you so". No other team has won 10 games each season for a continuing 8 years currently still going... I'd rather have consistency in a team than a single big game won yet go 7-5 or something along those lines..just makes no sense to me but maybe those big games will get won at some point who knows... each game needs a winner and a loser but at least the game was played.

Solid ND Team? Really? I cant really have this conversation any more to someone who says ND is a "Solid" Team..

"I'd rather have consistency in a team"

Which you have. They are a sure fire win for any good ooc team.

really? look who they lost too aside from South Florida all those teams are damn good teams! Lost to Michigan by only 4 points 35-31, USC is really good and Stanford.. I mean?? REALLY!?! :D

lol really...really (lolz) I guess Cincy top 10 team getting beat in orange bowl wasn't good enough, Beating Tenn a few years ago in Chik fila bowl wasn't good enough and a bunch of other ooc teams over the last 20years of VT ball wasn't enough huh? Ya look at history when it comes to the SEC SEC SEC SEC like your signature reeks of yet you won't look at it when you belittle VT over and over again? Any other team on you're radar to cut down or is it just cause of me, here and being a fan.

Ya they lost to ALL the good teams they played =\ kind of like Vtech this year......

What a bad call on that fumble. I mean FLA players stopped going for the recovery cause the whistles blew. How do you overturn that? Ridiculous.

I thought the review was very close, could have gone either way.
As for who the ball went to if it was a fumble, the Bucks recovered it, someone had to pick it up, the Bucks did.

Then when they showed the replay with sound, the ball was on the ground when the whistle blew, so it should have gone back to Florida, because of the whistle...

So, I don't know, refs screwed up blowing the whistle, IF it wasn't an incomplete pass.

We had this happen last year I think it was a PRO game and NO ONE recovered it.
