NBA 2011-2012 PLAYOFFS

If OKC wins, it will validate the concept that building a TEAM is better than a few superstars banding together, to the detriment of the bench. If Miami wins, the role of the GM will change quickly over the next few years as superstars rush to build coalitions on their own.

That is under the assumption the team was built under the draft only. ALL teams build with draft and FAs.

And also the 2-3-2 format adds another dynamic to this series. IMO, if they split the first two in OKC, that gives Miami a HUGE edge with the next three in South Beach. Conversely, if the Thunder win the first two, now all the pressure is squarely on the Heat as they head back to Miami.

Of course, if the Heat take two in OKC, then it's series over.

OKC went down 0-2 against the Spurs...and came back and won the series. Miami went down 3-2 and HAD to win in Boston, where they were 7-1 in the playoffs, and won the series. So being down, is really not a major issue with both teams...whether they are home OR away...that is what I was trying to say.

Personally, I HATE the 2-3-2 format. The format in the Conference Finals are much better... 2-2-1-1-1

Getting into the playoffs healthy is the most important thing. Injuries to key players took out the Spurs last year, and the Bulls this year.

If anything, injury to key players will expose how good your bench AND your coach is to making adjustments. That is why the assumptions during the regular season was 'fools gold' because as teams go deeper in the playoffs, the competition gets tougher.

its a prediction most made when the season began. i'm sure the real NBA fans like yourself are excited about this match-up. i have to get up at 4am for work everyday. this series will be the end of me

WHY can't the game on Sunday be played in the afternoon EST? This is the earliest game and it tips-off at 8:15pm.

The NBA has been doing this for years and it infuriates me. Why not a "happy hour" tip time on Sundays (5 or 6 ET)??

i didn't think it was happening for that long. :/ it feels like it gets later every year. or perhaps there's another reason why it feels that way

I agree it's all about the money. Which is why it amazes me that the majority of NFL postseason games (FAR AND AWAY the most popular sport), is still played in the afternoon.

and yet i believe they (NFL) sees better ratings? i'm assuming.........

It takes 3 to 4 NBA finals games to get the audience of a conference championship game in the NFL.

Though game 7 between the Heat and the Celtics did a 9 share..which is HUGE. It did a 21.7 share in Boston and a 24 share in Miami. You were close on how many NFL games. the highest rated playoff game since the LATE 80s was the Steelers-Broncos game this past season at a whopping 25.9.
