NBA to distribute $200 million to struggling teams

NEW YORK -- The NBA has lined up $200 million to distribute to teams interested in additional cash, which the league considers a sign it remains strong in a slumping economy.

Between $13 million and $20 million will be available to each of 12 teams that have expressed interest in the funds, commissioner David Stern said Thursday. The money can be used for any purpose, including helping teams deal with operating losses incurred because of the economy.

The Heat and their Stupid, Stupid Rules....

A while ago, the Miami Heat and a select few other teams adopted a ludicrous rule outlawing headbands, saying it took away from their "team-first" concept.

Jermaine O'Neal, a player known to prefer wearing the headband, isn't aloud to wear it anymore since he's now a member of the Miami Heat. I will never understand why teams want to go out of their way to make their own players feel uncomfortable in any way on the court.

So, let me get this straight; the Heat won’t let Jermaine O'Neal wear a headband because that goes against the “team first” concept but they will let D. Wade wear a sticker on his cheek with his own name on it? Priceless.

All hands on deck! Buck up Cavaliers! The time is now! Let's do this! We need to play balls to the wall! Take no prisoners! Tonight we dine in Hell!!!!!

They survived without West. I think they can survive without Big Ben.

Not after losing to the Celtics at home by 40 last week! ;)

I meant in their own conference, Bill.

I'm not penciling in Denver for the NBA Finals, but the way they have played since they swindled Detroit for Billups makes me think that they could be a threat in the playoffs.

They can't/won't beat the Lakers. No way.

Quick roundup of what happened in the NBA tonight:

Pistons end their losing streak. I guess Rip Hamilton was right- when he starts, good things happen.

Hornets blow a big lead, but still win on a buzzer-beater against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Wizards win. Normally, I'd crack a joke, but I can't- not when the president of our country is sitting front-row.

Oh, and that Marbury guy played his first game in Celtic color. When I first heard this, I thought, "Oh, no. He's Manny Ramirez on the hardcourt, since he also has a bad attitude."

Cavs beat Spurs.

HD, trust me- the Cavs WILL survive without Wallace. After all, they had a 12-4 record in the games that Delonte West missed.

Impressive win.

I've been saying it since the preseason......................the Cavs are THE team to beat.

Any good NBA games on tomorrow night?

No Boston, no Cleveland, no Lakers, Orlando will probably beat up the 76ers, and a lot of games with bad teams.
