NBA 2008-09 Season

The Celtics won their 16th straight last night, 88-85 in Atlanta.

At 24-2, the Celts are now two wins away from tying the best start ever with two losses. The 1966-67 Sixers and 1969-70 Knicks both started 26-2.

You're a Cleveland fan. You know whats going on....*cough*...Chicago Bulls....*cough* :( :(

Shhhh. If anything can bust through this drought it's got to be the "Chosen One", right?

For now though, I'm just enjoying the hell out of the Cavs this regular season. Did you see the game last night? The clinic LBJ put on was absolutely breathtaking, especially during that 14 point 4th quarter.

I'll try finding videos of the mind boggling passes, dunks and 3's. He was absolutely on fire last night. His line: 32 pts, on 14-20 made/attempted, 6 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk.

Plus, did you see him get a standing ovation when he went to the bench in the 4th from the crowd IN Minnesota?! That was awesome of their fans.

From Lebron...

"You can never be prepared for something like that, being on the road," James said. "It's great. Great fans here. I really appreciate it."

I watched it. It was incredible....The 4th quarter passes were great. It was like he was playing at a different speed. The best part was the look on McHale's face....just dumbfounded and scratching his head. :)

I had to rewind the DVR several times after that one slingshot behind the shoulder pass to Varajao. I even noticed one of the refs in the backround had his jaw dropped and was smiling for a while after the play in shear amazement.

With all the "oooh's and awes" in the crowd, you would've thought it was a home game. LBJ definatley stole the show last night.

Poor Minnesota....team has almost nothing to cheer about that they get excited over VISITING players and teams.

If Miami witnessed what went down in Minnesota yesterday, they'd be cheering too. I don't want to sound like a Homeboy, but some things transcend fan affiliation. A few of these plays, I've never seen a human being do EVER! As a fan of sports I was in awe.

Carlos Boozer Tells the Truth (we think)..... For Once

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- It is time to stop guessing whether [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1703"]Carlos Boozer Stats, News, Photos - Utah Jazz - ESPN[/ame] will opt out of the final season of his contract with the [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=uth"]Utah Jazz News, Schedule, Players, Stats, Video - NBA - ESPN[/ame].

For the first time, Boozer said unequivocally Wednesday night that he will indeed opt out of his contract at the end of the season, foregoing a guaranteed $12.66 million to become an unrestricted free agent.

"I'm opting out. No matter what, I'm going to get a raise regardless," Boozer told ESPN.com. "I am going to opt out, I don't see why I wouldn't, I think it's a very good business decision for me and my family, but I'd also like to see what happens with the Jazz and stay here."

Here is MY "homer" moment....we have D. Wade....don't NEED LeBron highlights!;)

I can't believe I'm saying this:

I'm really impressed with Boston right now. I thought last night would be the end of their streak, but this team just continues to roll. They are better than last year even though every statistic says they are the same. The difference this season is that they have a huge target on their jerseys that says "NBA CHAMPS",so you know everybody is bringing their "A" game, every night. Yet these guys keep winning. Very impressive. At this point, I don't see anybody stopping them from repeating, except injuries during the playoffs. My hat's off.

Same here!

I think they now know what to expect of each other....the core of the last years team now has a year under their belt and almost know what each other is gonna do and who could step up at the right time.

Grrrrrrrr. I want a rematch. I can't wait till April, May and June....

A show of hands here. How many of you thought that Danny Ainge and Doc RIvers should have been fired a year and a half ago?

Amazing what winning could do huh? Like Chris Rock once said, "When things are going REALLY good, alot is over looked.....have a missing tooth in the front....it now people see it as a gap......." LOL!

The Business Of Basketball

I guess this KILLS the thought that the NBA was 'not doing well' from some that actually had the nerve to disput this.....
The article DOES say that there are some teams in trouble due to ticket sales and naming rights to certian arenas, but the league as a whole is doing better than well and just below very well, according to this story.

Last season was a rousing success for the National Basketball Association. The league's two marquee teams, the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, met in the finals, and television ratings soared 51% over the prior year. The league's two biggest stars, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, were on winning teams and getting a lot of prime-time exposure, wowing fans and sponsors.

League-wide revenues hit a record $3.8 billion during the 2007-08 season, 6% more than the prior campaign, and the average team posted a profit (in the sense of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of $10.6 million, the highest amount since Forbes began tracking NBA finances 10 years ago.

The typical NBA franchise is now worth a record $379 million, 2% more than last year. The new eight-year agreements with ABC, ESPN and TNT that began with the 2008-09 season are worth $7.4 billion, 21% more than the prior deals on an annual basis

Who the hell is Brandon Roy.....

...and what the hell is he doing scoring 52 points!!:eek::eek:

Blazers end 11-game skid vs. Phoenix behind Roy's career-high 52

Roy's 52 Points Lead Blazers Past Suns, 124-119

Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Brandon Roy kept scoring until the Portland Trail Blazers had finally finished off the Phoenix Suns.

Fast Facts

• Brandon Roy scored a career-high 52 points, the second most points scored by a player this season behind Tony Parker's 55 vs. Minnesota.

• Roy has averaged 36.4 points over his last five games, which leads the NBA during that span (since Dec. 9th).

• Portland beat Phoenix for the first time in its last 12 games and improved to 9-2 at home this season.

Roy scored a career-high 52 points, including a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:01 left, in Portland's 124-119 comeback victory over Thursday night.

"I think this is by far the best offensive game I've had," Roy said. "I can't say the basket was big, but my confidence was huge tonight. I just felt like every shot I took was going to go in."

Roy was 14-of-27 from the field and 19-of-21 at the line. He topped his career high of 38 set last Friday night in a double-overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, and ended up two points short of the franchise record of 54 set by Damon Stoudamire against New Orleans on Jan. 14, 2005.
