DirecTVs contract states that they can provide those feeds even if they have HD locals available as long as every customer within that market hasn't been given a chance to upgrade yet. DirecTV doesn't consider an HD Tivo user as upgradeable until an HD DVR replacement is available and that customer had enough notice to get the upgrades. Also if delays occur don't think that DirecTV can't get a three month extension because they can and with ease I might add.
Excellent. My reference to the SF sub with the dated waiver is for an affiliate FOX station-KTVU(Cox Communications) and he says it's in the writing in his waiver that the feed be turned off 12/31/05. KTVU-FOX is the only station in the market of the Big 4 that is not O&O. This station may let it lapse but they are very difficult to deal with and have always been reluctant to allow waivers. Hopefully they will leave it on for him until a HD-DVR solution arrives.

In the 3Q conference call yesterday they mentioned 1Q for the HD-DVR replacement which is encouraging as early reports were it would not be available until mid 2006.

Yes I was very happy that all the suppliers had everything in place because it wasn't looking good at one point about two weeks ago.

Then it might be a good time for you to "touch base" again with your contact regarding the statements you made in this post.

This wasn't from the same contact and as such it was stated to be a rumor and I have clearly said I've been burned and most likely will be in the future. From what I've been told is that once a nearby SD market offers local channels in that market you will no longer get the SD DNS feeds.

Now this may not occur as quick as the HD distant networks but they will. Anyone who thinks that once they get SD local channels that they still deserve SD DNS channels just aren't thinking clearly. By the way did you know that D* doesn't even have to offer you DNS channels even if you are allowed to get them. They don't even have to offer you local channels by the way. As of now you have no right to receive DNS channels so don't think that they won't take them away if they find a better option to satisfy both the networks and themselves.

I'm not sure you know what I'm even talking about... HOWEVER... I did say in another thread that you aren't completely 100% wrong, and that one thing I said has been changed since I said it, and that's that the FCC will allow satellite companies to offer SV stations in DMAs unserved by LIL if that DMA doesn't have a station affiliated with the same network.

For instance, in my market, we only have an NBC and FOX affiliate, so DirecTV could offer a "Significantly Viewed" ABC or CBS affiliate in my market. While the CBS and ABC listed as "Significantly Viewed" in my DMA is not currently uplinked with either DirecTV (or Dish Network), it doesn't affect me or anyone I know, but DirecTV could offer WCTV, a CBS affiliate from another neighboring market to many of the counties within my DMA, and possibly an ABC affiliate to a few counties.

However, to no surprise, the SHVERA did make the rule that you can't receive "SV" channels that are affiliated with the same network as a station in your DMA until you subscribe to LIL, and are not eligible for it at all if LIL is not available to you. While the FCC may have made this requirement regardless of this fact, the NAB put a lot of pressure on the FCC to make this requirement.

SD DNS will be gone once they start offering a nearby markets SD channels in those markets that currently don't have SD local channels. I'm also hearing that SD local channels won't be added in anymore markets because HD locals will be the only locals offered after 2009. Between that time customers can get a nearby SD market like I said.

What about those with RV waivers? Its going to be hard to aim that 5 LNB dish in an RV.
