NASCAR 2013 season

one of the worst kept secrets is now officially out

Harvick confirmed out of RCR after 2013: NASCAR team owner Richard Childress confirmed what driver Kevin Harvick would not since November 2012. Harvick will leave Childress, where he has been since his first Cup race in 2001, and drive for friend and team owner Tony Stewart at Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014. Childress, who spoke Monday night at NASCAR's Sprint Cup Media Tour, talked about knowing about Harvick's plans last year before the race at Phoenix International Raceway -- a race Harvick would win to snap a 44-race winless streak. "We had a meeting and he told me his plans and we discussed what we were going to do in '13," Childress said Monday. "He'll do well over there at Stewart-Haas, and RCR will keep going and moving forward. I think him and Tony will have a good relationship." Stewart, who spoke to the media earlier Monday about his three-car team that includes Ryan Newman and Danica Patrick, has hinted at adding a fourth car to the Stewart-Haas Racing stable. Harvick, meanwhile, told reporters he didn't have "anything to tell you for 2014." On Monday, Childress said he did not know whether sponsor Budweiser would leave RCR along with Harvick. "They haven't made any comments on what they're going to do," Childress said. Though Childress admitted he knew Harvick's plans before Phoenix, he said he was surprised when word leaked out because he didn't expect it to be released until after the postseason awards banquet. As for the future, Childress welcomes grandson Austin Dillon into the fold this season. Dillon is slated to race the Daytona 500, among a handful of other Cup races. Burton and Menard are signed through 2013
Read this AM that Ryan Newman was signed to a 1 year deal with SHR. Mostly due to sponsor issues. The 39 car has no sponsor for some the events. Beyond 2013, there are no sponsors for the 39.
I think with Harvick coming on board in 2014 with a full time primary sponsor, Newman may be out. Of course, Patrick's car has the GoDaddy.com on her car for all events throughout the length of her deal with SHR.
Unless, sponsors can be secured for the 39, I don't see SHR rolling out a 4th car.

Actually all 3 cars for SHR dont have "full year" for sponsors

On the sponsor front for SHR the #14 has nine races open without a primary, the #39 of Ryan Newman has 8-9 races open for a primary sponsor and #10-Patrick has three races open for a primary sponsor.

That's what I get for skimming a story looking for bullet points instead of reading the whole thing.
In any event, years ago, I predicted there would be issues with team's ability to procure sponsors.
I worded it "the sponsorship gravy train is about to make its last trip."

For Stewart or Newman they can always use the "Haas Automation" backup plan (Newman did that last year a few times)

But I'm sure Smoke and Newman will fill most of those. I don't understand why GoDaddy didnt sponsor a whole season. I mean its the only sponsor and they do all but 3 races???

The only logical assumption I can come up with is godaddy.com did not buy ad time for those three races. Or, they had a budget limit.

good point. Or possibly 2 of those 3 are road races and maybe Danica isnt racing in them (like some drivers dont)

Have you guys noticed that the "Ringers" that use to come out for the Road Races aren't as much anymore, some still do, but a lot don't anymore ...
I think thats because a lot of the NASCAR drivers have gotten much better than they use to be and the Ringers showing in the top of the group is no longer a sure thing.

Well, if she's moved to Sprint Cup fulltime, she should be running the road races as well.

"Should"..Yes, correct. However, some of the "marginal" drivers do not run road courses.
Patrick is actually a pretty good road racer. Last season she looked like she had the race in Montreal won until she was hooked and wrecked while battling for the lead very late in the contest.

It's a money issue no doubt.

Schrubby extends contract with JGR...also JGR looks like he is taking over Schrubby's Nationwide ride (but he still owns it)

Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Agree to Contract Extension: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) announced today that it has signed driver Kyle Busch to a long-term contract extension. In addition, JGR will field the #54 Monster Energy Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013 with Busch serving as the primary driver. "I'm passionate about winning and that was a big factor in deciding to re-sign with Joe Gibbs Racing," said Busch. "I think JGR gives me the best opportunity to win a championship in the Cup Series for M&M's and Interstate Batteries. I know that everyone on our team is committed to that goal and will push towards making that a reality in 2013. I'm also looking forward to the opportunity to work with Adam Stevens in the Nationwide Series and put Monster Energy in Victory Lane where they belong. "I'm extremely proud of what we have accomplished in a short period of time at KBM in both the Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series. When we started KBM our attention was to build something for the long term and now we are going to put a greater focus on our future with Parker (Kligerman) competing in Nationwide and Joey (Coulter) running trucks."
The #54 Monster Energy Toyota will run a full season schedule for JGR with crew chief Adam Stevens calling the shots from atop the pit box. Busch is currently scheduled to drive the majority of the races in 2013. Additional drivers for the 54 team will be announced soon. "This is a big deal for us," said JGR President J.D. Gibbs. "It's no secret that you have to have great drivers to win in NASCAR and in the past year we've been able to secure long-term deals with Kyle and Denny and of course we were able to add Matt as well. Kyle is a big part of our success at JGR and we're thrilled to know he will be with us for a long time."

Poor Rickie....he's doomed ;)

Oh well.
If it were me in Stenhouse's shoes, I would just date. Nothing too thick.
I think Junior has the right thought.
He said a few years back when asked why he does not have a GF. He said he just didn't want to have some one telling him what to do or making demands on his time.

hmm I thought Patrick was married? She must have got too famous for her ex.
