NASCAR 2013 season

Just went to the NASCAR.com page ...

Well, so far I hate it, can't find anything ...

You would think that at the top of the page you would have info about the Bud Shootout (I know, names changed) and times and where to find it on TV as well as the Pole Position qualifying the next day (Sunday as always) ... nope, not a word.
When's the Daytona 500 ?
I know it's Feb 17th, but wouldn't you think being the Major NASCAR site and the Biggest race of the year (thier words not mine) that they would have something about it on the front page when you first open the page up ?
When does Speedweeks start ? ect, ect.ect....

The old website sucked too. You'd have to go through a few layers just to find qualifying and practice speeds.
I have huge problems with NASCAR media. Thye charge for the scanner/car tracking on the internet. Why? Indy car gives it away.
Ironically, when the races are on TNT, the "Race Buddy" is free.
NASCAR has also ended their relationship with Directv and Time Warner.
I cannot imagine the on line driver tracking and scoring is getting many buys at what $80 for the season. Screw 'em. Why should I pay. I just use the Fox Trax...

The 500 is on the 24th this year
Schedule is pretty easy to find...top of the page its says "SCHEUDLE" which shows the whole schedule

as for the entry list for the Shootout....neither nascar nor Jayski will have it posted until a week or so before. The list I posted is a preliminary list from jayski

Wow..I had no idea jayski was still around.
There was a website with a Cup forum called "thatsracin.com...I think the administrators grew tired of the nonsense on the forum and shut it down.
Anyway, I see NASCAR has renamed the "track pass" feature and now call it "race view"..They still charge far too much for it. Pass.

I know you can use the Schedule button, but wouldn't you think they would have it posted at the Top of the MAIN page ?

If I were NASCAR I would want people to be able to find IMPORTANT stuff like that without having to go searching.

I agree, it's ridiculous that you can't find qualifing and what not right there on the front page.

None, Toyota may be made here but follow the money back to Japan... sorry, should be USA only in NASCAR...

Yes I have heard this argument before. It's invalid. The fact is foreign auto makers employ well over 100,000 American workers. And countless other employees.
Shall we kick them out? Will you stand in front of them and state that it is isolationism that is responsible for putting these people out of work?
Tell me, how many domestic manufacturers have investments and ownership of "foreign" auto manufacturers?
We have borders which separate the countries. However, in business, there are no borders.
.

Just kick them out of NASCAR an American sport for American cars...

That's an opinion. Do you believe that your idea is practical?
Basketball was invented by an American. Should the Toronto Raptors be banned from the league? Should the maker of the balls used in the NBA and NCAA be kicked out if any of the materials in the balls are made overseas?
What about the fabric used to make the uniforms? The thread made to manufacture the nets on the baskets? The Lexan that makes the backboards?...
Let's be realistic here.
Isolationism is disingenuous.

I know my Ford Ranger was built in St Paul, MN (there is a sticker on the back...sadly that plant closed last year) :(

interesting...Stewart is a SMART man ;)

#10-Danica Patrick will not be using #14-Tony Stewart's owners points to start the year. Stewart said, "I worked hard for my points" and believes Patrick will be fine. The #10 team finished the 2012 season 33rd in owners points but been told those owners points will be used for Tommy Baldwin's #7 team with driver Dave Blaney. Baldwin will use the #36 owners points for his 2nd team, car #36 [unknwon driver/plans]. So the #10 car goes into the season with no owners points and Partick will have to make the races via speed. There is no top-35 or guaranteed spots in 2013, but owners points will used for 6 cars each race for provisional starting spots 37th thru 42nd and possibly the 43rd spot.

If you're confused last year Danica's "owner" was technically Tommy Baldwin Racing but Stewart in all intents owned it. Now this year he actually owns the #10 car. He could have given her his points from last year to guarantee she would have a spot (Smoke could use the past champions provisional if need be) but I guess he keeps the points :)

THANK GOD they are redoing qualifying....no more top 35 BS

For 2013, the top 36 starting positions will be set by qualifying speed. Positions 37 to 42 will be set by provisionals (based off owners points). Similar to previous seasons, the forty-third position will be given to the most recent series champion who didn't qualify on time or the next available team in owner's points. Unlike in previous years, the previous years' Owners points will only be used for the first three races of a season instead of five

I understand back when there were tons of part time teams the top 35 rewarded full time drivers. But with 44-46 guys now racing a week it was kinda pointless.

It's my opinion and I stand by it, will Never buy a foreign make vehicle... (don't care wtf it's made ;))

It does not bother you that for example the Ford Fusion is a virtual foreign car? You "buy the badge"?
Oh well.
As long as the car is built here in the US with US made parts, I am willing to buy no matter what the badge says.

There were TWO Ford plants in my home State of New Jersey. Both have closed. The Mahwah plant closed in the early 80's. The Edison plant which was gigantic, closed in 2004.
Also, the GM plant in Tarrytown, NY which is about 30 miles north of Midtown Manhattan, closed in the 70's

Good. NASCAR appears to be getting over it's fear of a top driver for whatever reason missing a race.
And hopefully there will be fewer "start and park" cars.
ON another note. NASCAR should be looking into a bunch of new rules to eliminate the "start and park" concept.
Each time a car runs say, half the race, goes ot the garage for such reasons as "handling", NASCAR should send a crew over to that car's hauler and impound the car for a bend over and grab the ankles inspection. If nothing is broken, one race suspension. Period.
I don't see this happening though due to NASCAR's insistence on a field of 43 cars.

As for the Fusion .... thats about to change, as a plant in Michigan, Flat Rock will be building them next year.
They already build some there now, mine unfortunately was built in Mexico.
At least it's not OVER seas.
