Multiple 1second or less sound dropouts on H3 DVR programs

I am getting a lot of little one second sound dropouts, random, in a variety of recorded shows (Hopper 3 DVR.) Seems to be worse recently. Not every show, but pretty frequently these days. Tonight we were watching America's Got Talent, NBC, and at one point it was several of these sound dropouts per minute.

Is this something people have seen commonly on the H3 DVR? Any steps to take to try to get rid of these?

My guess is low signal on the high def 129 Satellite or possibly, HD is failing. If you want to check your signal on the 129, hit the Home Button 3 times, Press 3 for Dish then set the Sat to 129, Transponder 21. Signal should be in the mid to high 50's

Don't think it's frequent. We've also been getting some pixelation on our H3/Joey 4K combo.

Hmm. This morning I went to the signal strength meter, it was on Tuner 1/129/26 (I think 26) and signal was 51-53. I changed it to 21 and it was still 51-53. Since we have a LOT of strong wind and storms I was wondering if the dish was just a touch out of optimal pointing, though I can't get to it. But on a lark I changed the viewing channel to NBC, and then back to the page with signal strength. Then it had Tuner 3, sat 129, Spotbeam 16 and the signal was locked at 61. I changed to Tuner 1, 129, transponder 21 and I got "not locked" and a zero signal. Randomly changed the tuner to 3, 129, 21 and got locked at 61. Changed back to Tuner 1, 129, 21 and now locked at 61.

So no idea what's going on, LOL! I would prefer not to have to go through the lose-all-your recordings change the Hopper 3 out and then find out that doesn't fix it routine if I can avoid it.

I get this on my local PBS station fairly often otherwise other channels seem to be okay

I have that happen a lot actually. Nothing happens on tuner 1, switch tuners, get signal lock then go back to tuner 1 and it's fine. I think that's some type of glitch maybe?? Well, signal seems good. If you want, the 110 and 119 should be in the mid to high 70's. Bad LNBF with some drift possibly or hard drive is failing?? Could be something else, too, ingress through loose connections.... It's tough to troubleshoot a Hopper without being there

While I can understand that signal strength could be a culprit, I don't think it is the whole story. I've had this issue with the H3 since installation 2 and a half years ago. I don't know if I've tried this with a live signal, but when this happens on a recorded program I can usually skip back and play it again and the sound is normal. Hiccup gone. My sound is HDMI to my Samsung one connect box and ARC to my AVR. My guess is that my nearly 8 year old Denon is not behaving. Just a guess, though.

What happens if you watch/listen to a show through the TV speakers?? Although the fact that rewinding it fixes the problem doesn't sound like AVR, but anything is possible

I get this occasionally on my HWS. A reboot seems to fix it for awhile. I think it is some kind of buffer issue. Rebooting clears the buffers and the audio on the recorded program then plays as it should with no skips.
