MLB POST SEASON 2010

I think the Rangers are a team that will be a success story for many years to come. They now have an old school owner that is really invested in the team, knows a lot about the game, loves his team (a rarity now), and has goals/plan that starts from the minors up and from the ground crew to every employee with the organization

The other way to look at it is that if the series does not go seven (and more often than not they don't), Lee is pitching just one of the first six games. But don't forget, while the rest of the Rangers pitching staff is not Cliff Lee, they are pretty good.

The Rangers' best chance may be to bring up someone from the minors for their first major league start. For some reason the Yankees tend to make guys like that look like a pitcher Cliff Lee hopes to be someday if he keeps working hard at his craft.

Can't bring up anyone from the minors, the playoff roster was set a longtime ago.

Today is the anniversary of the greatest HR in World Series History. Listening to Scully call the game, it seemed scripted. The lines he used as he was coming up seemed as if they were written ahead of time for something amazing to happen in the future.

"All year long they looked at him to start the fire, and all year long he has answered the demands"

"You talk about a roll of the dice, this is it"

"Dodgers are trying to catch lightening in a bottle"

"...not a bad opening act"

These were all before he did anything

Look at what this extra round of playoffs has done. In the past, the World Series would be starting now

This would have been a GREAT match up :up

Maybe not ratings wise, but otherwise :)

Jimbo....no one was talking about match-ups...;) Of ALL the teams that made the playoffs, that WS would have been quite possibly the lowest rated Championship Series for ANY SPORT in the history of television.:(

Yankees-Phillies is the ONLY matchup that would satisfy FOX.

Getting only one of them might not be good enough- the Phillies didn't exactly light up the ratings by themselves (their NLCS battles with the Dodgers didn't get great ratings, and their 2008 World Series vs. small-market Tampa was the lowest-rated of all-time) and I'm not completely sure how Yankees/Giants would do.

Saturday's ALCS-Game 2 on TBS

Yankees (Hughes) at Rangers (Lewis)- 4:07pm ET

Saturday's NLCS- Game 1 on FOX

Giants (Lincecum) at Phillies (Halladay)- 7:37pm ET
