MLB 2013 Season

Looks like this game will start the same as last nights. Weak hits followed by a bomb.

Capuano stinks anyway and the Dodgers never did good against Pevy. I'm not expecting them to win. Yesterday's game was the one the Dodgers should have won.

Even tonight is preseason football which may drawl more viewers than tonight's baseball game.

Don't ask me why so many are interested in watching games that mean absolutely nothing.

Not with tonight's MLB matchup. Next week's? maybe..

Don't know how accurate this is but according to the what's hot feature on my hopper the preseason NFL game is #1 watched show nationally on dish. The MLB game is #15. With the local rankings for my area the NFL games is #3 and the MLB game doesn't crack the list. (It only ranks the 15 most watched shows on Dish).

Again, I don't know how accurate this is but at least on Dish it looks like preseason NFL is much more important than Red Sox at Dodgers.

You also have to consider, if your not in the baseball markets involved ... Football is just getting started and everyone watches because they need thier football fix this time of year, while the baseball, while 2 top teams, is in the middle of a long season and a single baseball game doesn't generally mean nearly as much as a single NFL game, then again the NFL game at this point means Nothing...

It's also a difference between dish and direct.

I agree with this 100%!! I personally don't agree with the mentality, but the masses are football starved, and like Jimbo said, football is just once a week (even if it is preseason).

Again, personally I'd rather watch a baseball game in the middle of a pennant race (even if the Red Sox aren't playing) then some garden variety preseason football game.

With that HR, this game is now officially over.

Sox take two of three

This is the first series the Dodgers have lost in the last 20 they played. They are now 14-1-5 in their last 20 series.

This is also their last interleague game. They will finish with a 10-6 record against what everyone on here calls the best division in baseball, the AL East.

Offically?? There's no clock in baseball.

If you want to say unofficially that's one thing, but you can never say officially until it's well, official.

Still very impressive, BTW.

Not sure who "everyone" is, but speaking for myself it's my OPINION that the AL East is the best division in baseball. Not that outlandish considering 80% of the teams are playoff contenders. ;)

Hopefully your team doesn't have that attitude...

They wouldn't be the hottest team in the second half if they did. There's also a reality. As a fan I can tell if they are able to come back or not. As players, they should always try to comeback.

ESPN reporting that Matt Harvey has a partial UCL tear in his pitching elbow and is headed for the DL.
There goes the Mets hope for any playoff run. :p

Seriously though, this is sad news. Hope his arm is repaired quickly and he returns back to form ASAP

I thought that the Baseball Gods would lay off of the Mets once they got rid of Omar and his less-than-desirable ways of GMing a club. But it seems like their woes just go on and on. Sorry to hear that. I like Harvey.

I hope he's OK, but I gotta say that Schilling was much better without Kruk last night.

I agree, I thought Schilling was much improved last night.

I never liked the three man announcing booth, no matter the sport...

Never liked it either, with two exceptions:
Dick Enberg/Al McGuire/Billy Packer on NBC college basketball and Al Michaels/Jim Palmer/Tim McCarver (when McCarver was very good) on ABC's Monday Night Baseball.

It's a Red Sox fan favorite past time to line up the pitching rotation for a potential playoff series. This year is even more intriguing (NOTE: BY NO MEANS am I saying the Sox are a sure thing for the postseason. This exercise is entirely hypothetical based on the current standings and assuming health, other than Clay Buchholz, remains status quo)

Clay Buchholz- hasn't pitched in anger for almost three months, but is expected back next week and is 9-0 with a 1.71 ERA in 12 starts this year. IF he is healthy it would be hard to bypass him as the ace, but that's a BIG if.

Jon Lester- Seems to have found his groove after struggling for two months. His 12-7, 3.97 is very respectable and he has pitched in pressure cooker games in his career.

Jake Peavy- IMO, the biggest upside of any of the starters. Is a huge competitor, but he lacks postseason success. His 10-5, 3.99 is very respectable

John Lackey- kudos to him for battling back from both personal and professional problems two years ago and then TJ surgery following the 2011 season. His 8-11, 3.17 is very deceiving, for some reason the Sox bats fall asleep when Lackey pitches. Has tons of big game experience. Don't know if he would be my first choice, but I would trust him in a big spot.

Felix Doubront- Obviously the least experienced, but Felix has been far and away the Sox most consistent starter the last two months. His 9-6, 3.97 is outstanding for a supposed #5 starter.

Ryan Dempster- 6-9, 4.77 has been a disappointment in his first year with the Sox. He will be jettisoned to the bullpen when Buchholz comes off the DL next week.

I don't believe the Sox have a true #1 (unless Buchholz comes back 100%), but they have four or five #2's or #3's, and that's what makes a potential postseason pitching rotation very interesting.
