MLB 2013 Season

I just realized the Dodgers have the second best record in baseball. Only the Braves are better.

What is even more impressive than Kershaw's overall numbers for the year are his second half numbers.

So far for the season he is leading the league in ERA, WHIP (IMO is the most important stat), K's, IPs, and has the second most wins (tied for 4th). He should have many more wins but he gets horrible run support.

Look at how many games Mat Latos was leading before he left the game where the Reds ended up losing. He would have at least 6 more wins, maybe more.

Instead of just releasing a statement that he obviously didn't write himself, he should have manned up and faced a press conference, just like he did when he celebrated winning his appeal...

Atlanta appears to be the class of the first place teams with 77 wins !
LA, Pittsburgh and Boston all with the same record. 75
Texas and Detroit a game behind that ... 74

So, amazingly, ALL the first place teams are within a few games of the top team, Atlanta leads the way with 77 so far.
Unfortunately, best record doesn't get you HFA in the WS.

Good job Atlanta, can you do it in the Post Season ?

They do not all have the same record. Check that again.

Stating the obvious, having the best record on August 23rd means absolutely nada for which team will ultimately win the World Series. That said, if we are going to "celebrate" who has the best record, we're leaving out a very important fact..........the division said team plays in. If you want to say Atlanta is the "best" team or LA is the "best team" or Team X is the "best" team because of their record, that's very hard to quantify IMHO with the unbalanced schedule. Using the Braves as an example, they play 47% of their games in a division where all the other teams are sub .500.
