Should be a good pitching duel. Both are Cy Young contenders. I would still give the edge to Kershaw, but Greinke will probably finish second.

Heck, even yesterday was a good duel even though the Dodgers used their bullpen the entire game.

Ski, it's a virtual lock that the Dodgers will win the West. As a fan, do you have a preference for their NLDS opponent?

I don't. In a short series anything can happen. It is often not the best team that wins, but the hottest or luckiest team.

The best thing to look at is starting pitcher depth and dominance.

The Pirates are probably the weakest with starting pitching depth. After Liriano, their pitching is hit and miss.

The Cards are solid, but their only real Ace has struggled of late.

The Braves have a lot of pitching injuries, but are still surprising people. How will they do in the playoffs is anyone's guess.

The Reds have a couple of really good dominate pitchers at the top, which will help in a short series, but not as deep after that, which may hurt them more in a longer series.

I really do not have a preference.

The one team I would not mind seeing representing the NL in the WS if the Dodgers do not go would be the Pirates. The one team I definitely do not want to see would be Braves. No matter who the Braves play in the first round, I want that team to knock them out.

Reds aren't deep? How many 5th starters in the majors are over .500? The Reds have the deepest starting 5/6 of any team. Cingrani is doing great and he came up from the minors to replace their ace when he got hurt.

Over the last three games the Red Sox have scored 41 runs. Unfortunately, the offensive fireworks will come to a screeching halt this afternoon in the Bronx. That has nothing to do with who will be pitching against them, it's who will be pitching for them. Seriously, if the Sox lose 2-1 today, I'll be convinced more than ever that they hate John Lackey! :)
I hope they get him 10 runs in the top of the first. I can't believe the lack of run support he is getting. He is pitching so well. I feel bad for the guy. (well ok not that bad he IS making a ton of money..) but yep bad for him.

:)

Top of the first was same old, same old in the support department for Lackey.

Win loss is not indicative of depth. The comments I made were in comparisons to only those teams that will most likely go to the playoffs. When compared to the Braves, Dodgers, and Cards, the Reds starting staff is not as deep.

Your #5 starter has made only 17 starts.

Your #4 starter is a .500 pitcher

Arroyo is barely over .500

All of your pitchers have ERAs well over 3, except for Latos.

So much for a pitchers dual. What in the heck happened to Greinke?

Congrats Ramy, your team will win the first two of the series.

I hope the Dodgers don't go to the WS, the thread will be 5000 pages long. All posts by you. :)

No worries because I dont think the Dodgers are going to the WS anyway.

I think it will be the Cards and Sox.

He only got a single out of that. The worst part is their best hitter now has to bunt.

I don't care what Bronson Arroyo's record is, he's a proven big game pitcher.

I'm HOPING it's gonna be the Red Sox vs. Pirates, but I THINK it's gonna be the Tigers vs. Dodgers.

If the Dodgers were battling more I would like their chances batter. But teams that often run away with a division don't make it far in the playoffs.

I think that is because battling during the season better prepares teams for the battles of the post season.
