I used to live in NoCal and I would say that most Giants fans will never root for them. That would be like a Sox fans rooting for the Yankees.
I used to like the Giants when I was a kid until I moved up to NoCal. Once I lived there and realized how much they cannot stand SoCal and the Dodgers, that made me realize how much stronger the rivalry is up there than down here. KNBR would spend more time bashing the Dodgers than praising the Giants.
It looks like I may get my wish afterall. Tigers at Giants- Game 6 of the World Series on Halloween night. Orange will be the prevailing color of the evening, and as you know, we've had many memorable game 6's in the Fall Classic. It will be spooktacular!! 
That's funny. I used to root for the Dodgers before coming to the Bay Area 25+ years ago. And yes, you're correct KNBR bashes the Dodgers way too much! I don't have that type of hate in me, it's just baseball and let's enjoy it. This year the playoffs have been great and let's just hope it continues during the World Series.
For most of us fans, such as youself, it is not hatred, it is an honest good natured rivalry. I don't hate the Giants, I just can never root for them as a Dodgers fan.
I do agree that this series has been the best one in the playoffs so far, with the exception of the few blowout games. I hope the WS is just as great with close games and dramatic comebacks.
Come on Cards. You always seem to have some magic. You just need a few runs at a time over the next few innings and you can make this a game again.

I'm a neutral fan tonight and through the World Series, and I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy the game I've loved since I was a little kid.

This series reminds me so much of the 2007 ALCS. The Red Sox trailed the Indians 3 games to 1, and Josh Beckett pitched a masterpiece in game 5 (just like Barry Zito did in this series) to send the series back to Fenway. The Red Sox blew the Indians away in games 6 and 7, just like the Giants are doing to the Cardinals.

I too despise the chanting of __________ sucks. Dodgers fans do that to the Giants as well, and I do not like it when they do so. One can still have a friendly dislike of their rival team and never root for them without the hatred and the chanting of they suck.

Ya, I couldn't believe it either.
It was either just before the game or in the first few innings.
I think it will be Zito, with Lincecum being an outside chance. I think the Giants will go Zito-Vogelsong-Cain, and then see where they stand going into game 4.
I am kinda glad it's San Fran, I really like their Ball Park and not because I work for them.
It's a beautiful ballpark. I feel very safe taking my family to the games and everyone enjoys the ballpark.

Not directed at me, but I'll answer. Probably not, but here are some instances that come to mind:
1) Players on the Dodgers that I like and want to do well. Whether it be former bay area players or just players I happen to like for their style of play.
2) Dodgers vs. Yankees or Red Sox. I'm just not a fan of either franchise and would be fine with an NL West rival putting the hurt on either of them.
Or
3) It would take some seriously strange circumstances for me to root for the Dodgers (along the lines of making them a feel good story)
