MLB 2009 Season

If Varitek and the others get in ahead of Victor, I'm gonna explode!!

Then get off of SG and get on MLB.com and start stuffing the ballot box for Victor. Otherwise, it ain't gonna happen. Just the facts, dude. He plays for a small market team that is not playing well. If the Tribe was playing better and when they would get a national broadcast, then the hype would be all about Victor. Sadly, that's not the case. Everyone knows Varitek. Mauer is the poster boy.

As long as fans can vote as often as they wish you will never be able to control the "flavor of the moment" or "in by name not by performance" All-Star Game.

Then they should re-title the game the "All-Celebrity Game", not the "All-Star Game," because we're not getting the most talented and deserving players through the current selection process.

I just did my own All-Star voting, guys!

Here's my list:
American League

First Base: Morneau, J., MIN Second Base: Pedroia, D., BOS Third Base: Longoria, E., TB Shortstop: Jeter, D., NYY Catcher: Martinez, V., CLE Outfielder: Abreu, B., LAA Outfielder: Bay, J., BOS Outfielder: Suzuki, I., SEA

National League

First Base: Pujols, A., STL Second Base: Uggla, D., FLA Third Base: Jones, C., ATL Shortstop: Ramirez, H., FLA Catcher: McCann, B., ATL Outfielder: Braun, R., MIL Outfielder: Hart, C., MIL Outfielder: Kemp, M., LAD Write-in: Raul Ibanez
BTW, anybody old enough to remember the days of the Gilette All-Star Voting, where you took a pencil and punched in holes for your favorite players?

Yeah. Don't they still have those types of ballots they hand out if you go to a live game?

I voted the other day, this is how I went:

American League

1B- Justin Morneau
2B- Robinson Cano
SS- Derek Jeter
3B- Evan Longoria
OF- Jason Bay, Torii Hunter and Adam Jones
C- Joe Mauer

National League

1B- Albert Pujols
2B- Chase Utley
SS- Hanley Ramirez
3B- Pablo Sandoval
OF- Brad Hawpe, Ryan Braun and Raul Ibanez
C- Bengie Molina

If it were up to the fans to vote for the starting pitcher, I'd pick either Roy Halladay or Justin Verlander against Chad Billingsley.

I would pick Utley and Hudson over Uggla.

BTW, speaking of the All-Star Game, if anyone has DVR and MLB Network, they'll be showing highlights of old Midsummer Classics.

I've already recorded the 1971 recap (the one Wozniak went to).

Thanks for voting for Torii, guys! He's quite simply the best center fielder I've ever seen. More than that, tho.....he carries the team when it needs it and he has become the face of the team, always granting interviews, always waving to fans who call out his name..quite simply an all around class act.

The Weaver brothers are scheduled to face each other at Dodger Stadium on Sunday. It is only the 21st time in MLB history that brothers have started against each other as pitchers on opposing teams.

OH...Vin Scully will be eating this one up with a huge spoon!:D
