MLB 2009 Season

The Pirates will be better, they are building their minor league system.

Pittsburgh Pirates Top 20 Prospects for2009 - Minor League Ball

Pedro Alvarez, Andrew McCutchen and Jose Tabata Will be very good players.

I'm not a Pirate detractor (I don't loathe the city of Pittsburgh like some do), but let me be honest:

I WANT to believe they will get better.

Every year, I hear about this, and each year, they dissapoint.

If they turn it around like the Rays- great! Good for them.

They will lose this year, when the young stars come up, they will be better.

I don't care if it's "just spring training" or it was their subs. They're a professional team and they lost to a community college! How does this happen? No wonder the Pirates don't have much of a fan base anymore.

They more than likely had thier single and rookie league players in ...
I'm sure it wasn't the team thats going to start the season in Pittsburgh.

:up

The AAA stars left the game in the third inning when the score was 4-1, then the lower players came in. When it got down to the end of the game the lower single A players were in.

See, you can't hardly say that the college team beat the Pirates then.

Much the same way I don't pay attention to Spring Training result and records, knowing that most of the regulars were not playing.

The 25 man roster were beating the Reds at that time.

ESPN Sunday Night Baseball always waits till the later part of the season to adjust it's schedule to broadcast winning teams that are in the hunt of the pennant.

In short...if your Tigers play well enough, we'll all be SICK of seeing them on ESPN! :p

bull! last year they played on it in the first week of April, and 3 weeks later.

I wonder how many games of the Yankees/Red Sox and Cubs/Cardinals and Giants/Dodgers rivalries will be on national TV this season...

BECAUSE DETROIT PLAYED SO WELL IN '07!!! It carried over to '08. Since you sucked the big one in '08 you stand as good a chance getting on the air as much as Pittsburgh.

Rivalries (which is what you have just listed) are a whole different monster. Don't get me going on them!!!!

Red Sox/yankees will be on 19 times this year.

And you know something, if you're NOT either a Yankees or Red Sox fan that must get frustrating. I admit if I weren't a Red Sox fan it would probably piss me off too.....I ADMIT THAT!

But I always come back to the same question:

If Red Sox/Yankees games didn't do well ratings wise, would the networks continue to show their games all the time?

No offense to anyone, but that question NEVER gets answered.
