Loud "whoop" or siren/alarm sound from my receiver.

Yeah, I was wondering if some interference from an outside source was bleeding through, like a neighbor with a tin foil hat, and a mega transmitter.

I had an idea this morning and googled around. Sure enough, it looks like it is my TV, not the receiver. I just unplugged the power strip (which the TV is on too) so I reset both at the same time and made an incorrect assumption.

I have this app installed and do have alarms turned on! I think this may be my issue. I'll uninstall it and see what happens. Crazy. If it is actually the app, you'd think they would have text on the screen and not just a loud alarm. Who knows.

Actually, just found this in an Amazon review:

"Warning to all: don't install the Weather4us app unless you want a constant siren alert when your area has a weather emergency (like a flash flood warning). The alert also takes over the Vizio completely shutting down all operations. Obviously, I uninstalled it."

Yup--that sounds like what happened!

Crazy stuff. What good is a "whooop whooop" alarm and a blank screen? You'd think it would scroll text or SOMETHING to let the end-user know what was going on. I'm sure there are people like me who have no clue why their TV is sending out an alarm sound--and also people like me who don't know what is originating the signal. Crazy. My "smart" tv doesn't seem that smart right now. I've never had one of my "dumb" tvs send me on a wild goose chase like this.
