Lifetime Television Severs Talks with Dish Network

How many of those 46 Sports Networks are Regional Sports networks which are only available to their locals in AT180? There may be 46 sports nets on the satellites, but my AT180 only lets me get about 20.

Also, I'm sure that Sports draw much better ratings that repeats of the Golden Girlls.

It's interesting that Lifetime was able to secure agreements with DirecTv and virtually every cable franchise nationwide...but not Dish. That makes me think that Dish is ALSO at fault here.

The fact that other companies roll over and pay whatever is asked of them is not the issue. Dish has successfully negotiated contracts for every channel except OLN and Lifetime/LMN. In both situations, the channel owners were extorting more money from Dish. Dish refused.

Again, keep in mind that there are over 2200 channels on Dish Network's system. Total of 7 channel that didn't make the cut in 2005. Over 150 channels were added in the same time frame.

I feel Charlie has a good idea what the channel is worth. If it cost him a couple thousand of subscribers then fine. Better than paying way more than a channel is worth.

I also wonder why Lifetime would never give out the true number like DISH said they could. Would DISH really be interested in sharing the numbers if they thought it would bit them in the a$$. No! I think Lifetime is really reaching with there side and trying to get people to lose sight of what is really the problem.

Lifetime wants to much money.

Oh at one point they did release some numbers. What they didn't do was tell us what they wanted from Dish to carry LRW. So even at that point there wasn't anyway for us to know what the true numbers.

I was saying we could not go to cable as they did not have CBS in HD due to a fight over a carrage agreement,

Guess what, Cox just added CBS in HD, now I dont have a good reason, other than the Cable HD DVR is not very good.


I am glad DIsh dumped Lifetime too, its just my Wife is not and she watches TV also (we even have his and hers DVRs).

Not gonna miss Lifetime

I have seen all the Golden Girls. I never watched Lifetime movies. I am taping stuff off Oxygen.(Go Xena)

I am wondering what they will replace it with. I have the dish everything pak, getting tired of WE and ELove duplicating.

Any ideas which new network?

Old Charlie is lying here. How about OLN? Oh , I guess it must have slipped his mind. .

Thank you for pointing that out! Dish lost several channels, and have replaced them with either nothing, or lower quality channels. OLN was lost, Reality was lost, and now Lifetime and LMN.

The thing is we don't KNOW the real facts and negotiations, we can only guess. I don't believe a word either side is telling us. All I know is I pay the same, get less, and have no imput.

Let's be honest

I do not watch those porn station, nor do I want to. I have a blocker to keep any kids away from them. Still I would bet that those 7 porn channels bring in more cash than Lifetime/Lifetime Movie ever has, or ever will. This is American, and we are capitalists. As long as there are plenty of channels beside Adult, I don't think they are doing anything wrong. If you don't like it, don't buy it, and you can block it.

I used Lifetime's web site to do the same thing. That was fun. Changing their standard letter to congratulate Charlie.

Just to put things in perspective:
Dish Network has over 2200 channels in the system. 7 (2 international, 2 locals and 3 "basic) have been removed in the last 12 months. 7 English and 3 Spanish basic and over 150 other channels ave been added in the same time frame.
