Just had dtv installed 3 days ago.Tried vod tonight, but can't get it to start downloading past 0%.
The installer and his trainee installed a deca adapter at the genie with the ethernet connected to the adapter not the dvr.
I was told at sign up they would install a cck , but my understanding is that the genie will act as the cck so it is not needed.
I also have 3 client boxes which all get apps, and recorded programs from the genie no problem.
I have the router in a closet 30ft away from the dvr.I ran the diagnostic test and got the phone error and a dropped connections playback error.72-79-268
I ran a speed test at the wall plate where the deca is connected and got 15.39/5.29
I also disabled the firewall in the router hoping that may have been causing issues.I tried downloading a concert with no luck.
Any ideas?,what is dtv going to be able to do over the phone?.
Would moving the router to the stb to reduce the ethernet from 30ft down to a 3 ft jumper help?

:welcome to Satelliteguys!

I think the HR34 has a built in DECA. Try bypassing the one they gave you.

The 34 does have a built in DECA, but it would need a CCK to utilize it.. If I understand the original post correctly then I would do this:
Remove the DECA and run the coax from the Power Inserter directly to the Genie.
Then plug the Ethernet cable directly into the back of the Genie..
Go into the menu, settings, network setup, reset defaults.. then run get connected.
That should fix you up.
If you run into any problems, repost here and we'll help you out.

After posting last night I played around with the router, didn't really change anything, pinged stbs, and whatnot, but I did reset the dvr 2x, and somehow it started to work.I downloaded 2 boardwakl empire episodes in a few hours.
Today my wife tried to watch something on showtime on demand and got a slow internet connection speed error, but another show on demand did play.

I never got a cck like you see in the pictures, just the deca..
As far as removing the deca, I will give that a shot, but i just want to get it right.
out of the wall plate it goes to a 2 way splitter, one leg goes to the stb, the other to the deca, which has the ethernet ,and a coax in,powered by a small adapter on the end.
Do I just go out the wall plate to the stb, ethernet into stb port, then network defaults?.
From what I have read there are some who say ethernet into stb will kill whole home, is that the case?.
thks

You've got the right idea, coax and ethernet directly into the stb.
With other DVR's, if you plug the ethernet into them, it does kill whole home, but Genie's are wired differently. they will pass the internet connection from the ethernet port into the coax (Think of it as a built in wired cck).

Thanks for the help, looks much cleaner now.I got rid of the deca, and all its wiring, a coax splitter and 2 coax jumpers. It all seems to be working fine, I can pick up recorded content in all the rooms so I guess all is good.
It did take a while for the content to reappear, and reload.
