Well, since my old SMP 5.91 client expired, I gave the new SMP 6.23r1 client a try, and so far so good. We'll see how well it works. Looks like they have fixed the EUE errors that plagued the 6.22 clients. If not, I'll go back again to the old 5.91 re-extended client.

You can use any of them, including the nvidia GPU2 since you have an 8600m GT card in the laptop. For me the most stable SMP is the 5.91. I'm glad they extended the expiration date on it. It's not til April 09 now.

That's the one I'm using. The 6.22 bombed right away so I updated and have been cranking away ever since.

That's good to see. Our Team took a big hit from our SMP Folders when Stanford released the V6.2 SMP client for Windows. Hopefully, they can install the new 6.23 and stop running the older projects.

The success of the V6.23 SMP Windows client also means more FAHCore_A2 Client Projects for the rest of us, too, which boosts my Mac Pro's PPD productivity by 30%. :up

So does the 6.23 client actually get better project WUs than the old 5.91 client? I've noticed that so far everything seems ok. I think I'm only on my 3rd WU since I have upgraded to the 6.23 client.

my experience is that the wu's are the same

2665 1920 points takes 24 hours on my oc'd quad core

2653 1760 points takes about 16 hours

hdtvtechno, it looks like your PC thinks it should connect via a proxy server. I'd stop the Folding Client, open up a CMD window set to your Folding Directory (C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-x86?) and run the client with the -local and -configonly switches. I think the Proxy connection question is in the Advanced options. You can probably hit return to accept the current settings for the rest of the questions.

It looks like you're running Vista and I'll have to say I don't have any experience with using Vista. I've heard from the Folding Forum that Vista is real picky about file permissions and where the Folding Client is installed.

RE: 2,000,000: Thanks! I tell ya, installing the GPU2 client on that old HP AGP machine and getting 2,000 ppd was a huge part of getting to 2 million points. Our Team has surpassed 25,000,000 points, too! And how about this thread? We're at the 1,393 post mark, which is one of SatelliteGuys.US's longest threads.

Do you have exceptions in the Vista Firewall that allow the FAH client and Core programs to get out? I would have expected Vista to yell that an unapproved program had tried to access the Internet, but that's based on the security settings.

I gather you can surf to one of the assignment servers? Try plugging http://171.64.65.63:8080 and http://171.64.65.63:80 into your browser to see if the server responds with "OK".

I forgot to ask if you're running the Classic or the SMP version. Also, is this on a PC that was working and now stopped?
