Jamie Moyer signs two year extension

These are the kind of statements that make people wonder if you watch much baseball. You don't use these type of examples for your little league team, do you? ;)

This sounds like the logic of the hockey coach in the commercials on NHL network...and those are MEANT to be funny.

Of course...the best pinch hitter in the majors is MUCH more valuable than the second best pitcher in the majors...

Yikes.

Sandra

I do not coach little leagues. I coach high school boys in a program that could probably put about 90% of all the other high school programs to shame. And some of the teams I have would do quite well against college teams.

Do not be little what I do with these young men....makes you look childish and quite snobbish. I am sure if you were to belittle what the coaches do with your nephews/nieces as far as self esteem and confidence....it would go quite well and you would very well liked....

I do not belittle. I just hope you don't bring your bizarre 'pitchers can't win without fielders but a batter can win a game all by himself' analogy to your team.

And getting away from the kids, it's even more bizarre when the vast majority of the baseball world knows how valuable pitching is.

Seeing that you continue to harp on this...I will play along just so all can see that you cannot leave it alone and the thrill you must get to keep it going.....Please find where I show that pitching is NOT VALUED?

Pitcher CANNOT WIN WITHOUT FIELDERS.....and batter CAN WIN A CAME ALL BY THEMSELVES.

I gonna PRETEND your an idiot, which I think your not....just someone that NEEDS the last word and she is just not getting the last word. So here is how it can be done, it has been done.

A hitter is up with the game tied and nobody on and hits a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. The TEAM WON THE GAME, because an individual at the moment won it for them because of a SOLO HOME RUN.

The day a pitcher throws a no-hitter and strikes out ALL 27 BATTERS throwing against A BACKSTOP, he could STILL, MORE THAN LIKELY not win because he would have to still bat.

And I have NEVER stated that pitching is not important. Please find where I have said that.....

And my statement, though not excuted properly, deals with MLB...not kids at the high school level nor even the college level.

This is absurd. You're talking about one swing of the bat in the first scenario, and the entire game in the second scenario. How could he be up in the bottom of the ninth in a tie game if he didn't have a pitcher?

This whole direction is pointless. It's like discussing what's more important, the batter or the bat. One cannot do anything without the other. And just like your above scenario, it has nothing to do with actual baseball.

Baseball is a team game, and the pitcher is the most important player on the field.

What you're saying applies more to high school, which I guess is what you're used to. The pitchers also tend to be the best hitters, because they're the best athletes. That's completely different from the major leagues, where pitching is key.

Funny how YOU make a quite a comment and suddenly, the conversation is "absurd". LOL!!! "Pitchers tend to be the best hitters"?! Where? Please show me some proof to THAT statement. They MAYBE ONE of the best athletes, but those tend to be the guys that play up the middle that INCLUDE but not LIMITED TO the catcher, 2b, SS and centerfielder.

The is the MOST INVOLVED player in the game, NOT the most important. That is a matter of YOUR opinion.

What MY ORIGINAL comment was to MLB, but what I apply to my kids is baseball, plain and simple.

But you are just a spectator....that is what YOU are use to.

OK, one of the best athletes. Talk about nit-picking...

Absolutely this is my opinion.

Not sure what this attempt at a put-down is for. We're talking about major league baseball. How many major league hits do you have?

Sandra

This whole conversation has gotten silly. Lot of nit-picking going on, nothing of substance.

You don't think trying to decide if a pitcher or a hitter can win a game if he is the only one who shows up for it is a matter of substance?!?

I'm shocked.

I'm sorry....NOW, I am nit picking....??!! :haha:haha:haha "kettle meet pot....pot, say hello to kettle:....

So NOW YOUR opinion is the one that counts and cannot be refuted....sucks when the shoe is on the other foot now doesn't it......?

I was stating since I am "only use to high school baseball"...you have been nothing but a spectator in either.....take it for what its worth.

SLAP:eek:

Not much. High school and the major leagues are two different things. And we're talking about the major leagues here. I am not a high school player or spectator.

I acknowledged your point about the pitcher being ONE of the best athletes on a high school team. You can move on from that now.

Sandra

Believe me, I will....I have tried in almost 3 threads....

KNOCK IT OFF!!

cripes you two are sitting here throwing crap at each other and nitpicking...WHO CARES!! It has nothing to do with the topic and I tried while you two were fighting like 3 year olds to get it back on topic and you two decided to continue to fight.

so get back on topic....thank you for your understanding

Oh my, somebody needs to lay off the caffeine! :D

Or maybe somebody should quit trying to get the last word in.

I stated my point in that post...try and get back on topic instead of fighting and accusing someone of something that was said IN A DIFFERENT THREAD.

Wow. Iron Mike has let himself go.

Who are the NFL's most overrated players?
