He's 46! Maybe he'll do what Julio Franco could not - - - play until 50. :) I remember him playing on the Cubs when I was a little, little kid.

I was reading the other day that Moyer was one of the last remaining players around since Greg Maddux came into the league as a rookie. Both were rookies in 1986.

Goes to show you, if you can pitch decently and are left handed, there will always be a market for your services. (Anyone remember Jesse Orosco?)

I'm tempted to tie my 7-year old son's right arm behind his back for the next 5 years in order to develop his left. :) :) :)

For longevity, make him a left handed pitcher.....to make to the big leagues the fastest, amke him a switch hitting catcher.;):up

What happened to the indignation regarding signing a pitcher to more money than a field player??? Aren't you outraged? ;)

Sandra

You said no pitcher should be paid more than any field player.

Sandra

GOD oh might...my comments in THIS thread had nothing to do with pay. It had to do with getting to the majors quicker or longevity.

You know, you once made a smartass comment about me stating 'now I know why I am not married' or something to that extent....

.....NOW, I know why too.....

I will not backtrack from my comments on ANOTHER THREAD...and what was said on THAT thread and what was said he have nothing to do with each other. It is WAY beyond apples and oranges.:what

But, I guess if you NEED to bring it up on every thread to cement your 'queen bee' status....knock yourself out! You deserve the title..:up:rolleyes:;)

So just because you said it in another thread that means you don't really feel that way?

Oh really. Saying no pitcher should be paid more than any field player in another thread doesn't apply to every pitcher?

Contradict yourself much?

NNOOOOOOOOOOOO! IT DOES NOT APPLY TO THE TOPIC OF CONVERSATION HERE....DOES NOT APPLY TO THE THREAD.......!!!!!!!

Because MY comment here, for the umpteen time has to do with longevity....and quickest way to get to the majors. IT has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING....zero, zilch, nada, bubcuss, goose-egg with with salaries what so ever.

Do you think the Phillies signing Moyer was a good signing?

Sandra

Better yet, who's worth more, Jamie Moyer or Julio Franco? :D

Julio....ONLY because he would be counted on for a once-in-a-blue-moon spot start and pinch hit....NOT to be a major part of the pitching rotation. And truth be told, the ONLY reason he got a contract really is because he is 10-1 in the last two years against the team that has given them fits....the Marlins.

Call it a 'keeping our Marlin killer' and a 'thanks for the memories' contract....;)

Wow. Iron Mike has let himself go.

Who are the NFL's most overrated players?
