I'm a brand new DirecTV subscriber (not even installed yet) and I signed up for the HD+DVR tier. Could someone clarify exactly what channels we're talking about here and what an SD simulcast has to do with it? I wasn't able to put it together by reading the thread.

You will get the hd version of whatever sd channels are in your package. Also, you will get a few that have no sd counterpart, like HD Net, HGTV hd, Food hd. Actually there is an HGTV and Food Network, but the hd versions have different programming.
