If no Duo Node... who's gonna wait?

Rumors that they wouldn't be ready at launch. Can I have yours!!!!!!!!!!:D

I have literally one. Because we were short so no sir!

Is it possible to bridge 2 solo nodes?

My thought is something along these lines:

DPP44 has satellite links.
Output 1 grouping --> Solo Node 1
Output 2 grouping --> Solo Node 2

IIRC, the Solo node has 2 MoCA network outputs. So... from each solo node:

MoCA 1 --> splitter --> Joey Nodes
MoCA2 --> Between Solo Nodes.

I dont know if this violates the limits of the MoCA network.

Otherwise, I'd wait for the Duo node to come out.

I was thinking along the same lines. Solo nodes only have one "client" output, so I was thinking a single coax between the solo1 client port and solo2 client port and then feed joeys off taps, or each client port to a three way splitter and feed joeys from the splitter.

It should all work out provided the duo node is not doing any filtering or other functions we don't know about (I doubt it is).

Will not work. By the training anyway. The setup you describe

dppsw44 to soloA port 1&2 then SoloB port3&4

then sharing a client line with a splitter between them...

I may test it out just to see.

But dish would never approve that 150$ switch with TWO solos...

Also to everyone posting shortage rumors that is YOUR dealer/rsp/retailer that is out not everyone else.

I think not having the dual node means that DISH will install a single node on both hoppers and it will generate another truck roll once the dual node comes out , if it comes out . So DISH makes $95.00 off of all customers who want two hoppers twice. A clever ploy to increase their revenues. Because DISH is all about the revenue now.

Which is why they wouldn't bother training for it.

It should work, provided the duo node is not doing any black-box magic we are not aware of.

EDIT: But that doesn't mean I think its a good idea.

I never started any rumors that there were any shortages. People are just stating that they haven't been able to get any yet.

I really couldn't see Dish doing any 2 Hopper installs until their techs have duo nodes. Wouldn't make sense for them to install them any other way.

Every business is about revenue and profits.

True, and likely they should think about revenue and profits. BUT, they should not think strictly on revenue and profits alone. Customers should be a priority too. A successful business makes its revenue and profits not at the expense of a customer, but with the relationship of the customer. I sure wish more companies thought along those lines.

Customers are a priority ... do you see a Directv DIRT team anywhere? ;)

MikeD's post comes across to me as cynical since we don't have all of the details.

  1. We don't know about availability of Duo nodes at launch. We won't until tomorrow at the earliest.
  2. If Duo nodes are lacking, we don't know if Dish will delay the install of 2 hopper environments.
  3. If they do install dual Single nodes, we don't know that there will be an additional charge to switch from two Single nodes to a single Duo node.
Lacking major details, it is a big leap to say it's all about profits.

I just got off the phone a little bit ago with my distributor and I will be receiving my Duo Node tomorrow. Hopefully I will get a chance to install it at home tomorrow night or Friday.

Has anyone heard if there is going to be a stipulation of a minimum number if TVs serviced before allowing a second Hopper?? The pricing sheets seem to indicate that 4 TVs would be the number, where you can choose between a 1H/3J or 2H/2J setup. Not a technical limitation mind you, just a business one...

In reading many threads, do you ever have anything positive to say about Dish?
