Iv'e been doing searches. but i can't figure out what to do, plus i have no idea what i need. Here is my setup. I have a two room setup with a 322 reciever. My dish outside says dish network 500. My lnbf say dp plus digital lnbf model ak72-bte. There are two cables coming from the dish. 1 cable goes nowhere. The other goes to a skywalker mini diplexer with 1 of it's outputs going to the 2nd room, the other output goes to a another skywalker mini diplexer at the reciever. One output from that goes to the 2nd tv input on the reciever, the other goes to a dish network seperator, then to the reciever. I want to add another reciever to run my basement and another room, but don't want to pay dish for extra rooms. What do i need? -thanks-

A splitter on the output of tuner 2 to send Tuner 2's signal to the other 2 rooms. You will have the same programming on the 3 slave TV sets. Or you can pay DISH for the additional receiver and $5/mo. to have independent programming on the 2 additional rooms.

I'm assuming he wants another receiver so the other TVS can act independently from the first 2 (since he actually says "another receiver")

In which case, utilize that second cable from the Dish and run it to the new receiver location. From there, you can either copy the diplexer setup that is on the back of your first receiver, or just run a seperate cable from TV1 location to the TV2 location and plug it straight into the TV2 port on the receiver.

The diplexers make it so that the junction point for the 2 rooms can be outside, rather than inside, essentially... so if you want to diplex like your first two TVs, you need a wire running from each new TV location to some common point, where you would put the first diplexer, the second diplexer being behind the receiver.

I can't just buy a reciever and do it myself? I don't really mind paying the extra 5 a month, i just don't want to take off work and wait for dish to show up. also, why does the 2nd output from the lnbf on my dish go nowhere?

Yes you can just purchase the receiver and do it yourself.

Couldn't tell you without seeing it, but about the second wire going nowhere... either:

1. The wire was there already and the tech just hooked it up because it was there and he might as well.

or

2. He used that wire to point the dish.

or

3. He used Dual Cable out of habit or "just in case"

In any case, the reason is meaningless in this situation... you have a Dish Pro Plus LNBF, which means you only need 1 wire for each receiver in your setup.

ignore my last post. i didn't see the reply. anyway, so i can just buy a reciever off e-bay, and it will work. i remember reading posts about recievers with a balance owed, so i am a little worried. another thing, is my equipement (the 322) outdated? should i look at buying something else?

Pay with PayPal or a credit card and you will have a way to get your money back if the receiver can't be activated. You can also request the Receiver and Smart Card # from the seller before purchasing so that you can contact Dish and have them verify that the receiver can be activated on another account.

We still install 322s every day. They go in every multi room non HD non DVR installation (unless a different configuration is specifically requested by the customer).

thanks for the help. i will buy a 322 off e-bay and hook it to my second cable coming from the dish. can i take the lnbf apart? the reason i ask is the 2nd wire coming from the dish is only 1 ft. long at the roof and i'd rather not splice it.

Yes... the LNBF is attached to the dish by 2 screws. Take those out and pop off the LNBF a few inches and attach your new cable to second satellite out port. You will actually see 3 ports total... use the one that is closest to the port you are already using. The one that is further away (on the right if you're looking at the ports with the LNBF right side up) is an Input port to feed signal from other LNBFs into the DPP Twins internal switch)

is there any beneifit to going to all 311 receivers, one for each tv? maybe more reliable remote control performance?

The only benefit would be the possibility of better picture quality, since you could use the S-video or RCA ports to feed the picture to what would be your secondary TVs with the 322, rather than coax. However, if the cable runs are relatively short and the line run doesn't have too many breaks in it, the picture quality with coax is just fine on a SD TV anyway.

Remote function is usually fine, provided you remember to set each TV2 to a different Remote Address, and if the receivers are hidden behind multiple other electronic components, you run a jumper from the antenna port to move the antenna somewhere where it is a bit more out in the open.

If you went the 3(4) 311 route instead of the 322, you would need to purchase an external Switch (DPP 44 or 33) to have 3 or 4 receivers. Your current LNBF will only support 2 dual or single tuner receivers without the addition of an external switch.
