Why did you go with the 1250 over the HD-PVR? I thought you wanted to use it as a HD PVR for your HD receiver?

Yeah, as to the HD-PVR I am in limbo now, as I have been for four weeks. I have been completely without TV during this time, and I have no idea how this Dish problem is going to sort out. No matter what, I'll be sending one of these receivers back, but which one won't get me screwed is the question. And whether I'll sub the other is also in question.
The major temptation is recording the pure digital transmission stream using the R5000. Cost is having to hassle with Dish's atrocious customer service, and with using Winduhs to record. (I've used Debian exclusively for eleven years)
This may take a couple more weeks to sort out, so I bought the 1250 to at least get locals.
