I recently upgraded my service from the 922 to the Hopper & 2 Joeys. My Satellite setup was with the Western Arc (110, 119, 129) with a side dish pointed at 61.5. I was told by the installer I could not use my wing dish at 61.5 because it is not compatible with the new Hopper installation. I live within the Nashville DMA but am close enough to Knoxville that I could and prefer to receive locals in HD at 61.5. Will I need to replace my Western arc setup with a complete eastern Arc setup (1000.4) installed and just remove my wing dish at 61.5, or is it possible to reinstall the 61.5 to my Hopper service?

You can't mix the Hopper 3, and I'm guessing that's what you had installed, with your western arc and 61.5 setup. I note that Nashville HD locals are also on 61.5 so you could go to an all eastern arc, 61.5 and 72.7, setup and you could continue just fine with what you want. The only caveat is that you would lose whatever SD locals that are on 110.... Another thing you might look at is, if you are really all that close to Knoxville, is to add an OTA antenna and pull in Knoxville that way. There is a caveat there as well. OTA dongles are not available for the H3 at the moment. There is a new one that has been talked about but it is not available yet either.

If you get a hopper 3 does that require a dish change? Will Dish let you have a 211 for tailgating?

The Hopper 3 requires a 1000.2 dish with a Hybrid LNB. Yes, you can have a 211 for tailgating but if you want to use it in the house with the Hopper 3 setup it will require a separate dish. Perhaps when the new 42 switch is released all of that will change.

Hopper 3 and 3 Joeys to the left,
211z and 211k to the right.

What about replacing or disconnecting the 110 (Locals) on western arc and replacing it with 61.5 (locals), eastern arc . That would still be running three satellites (61.5, 119, 129)? Is that an option..........as for the OTA tuner I believe it when I see it......

The 110 has quite a bit of HD its not Just locals.
Western arc has HD on all 3 satellites.

You need 110,119,and 129 to have what EA has on the 61.5 and 72.7.

You remove the 110 for the 61.5, you might as well add the 72.7 and drop your entire western arc system.

You can't mix arcs with a Hopper 3 at all. It all comes down to the Hybrid LNB. It is either western or eastern arc and it has to be on the same dish. Each LNB will look at only the 2 satellites in the east or 3 in the west.

Why does Eastern Arc only have two Satellites, while western has three (110,119,129) Is the content the same? Are their advantages to running Eastern Arc Vs Western Arc? What would I need to purchase to upgrade to eastern arc?

Actually BOB the EA2 Hybrid has a Wing dish input.
You could run 61.5,
72.7 and another orbital location.
But as already stated there is no point in doing such unless you need the 118.7 for internationals or 77 for locals.

Because that is how it is set up. Each arc has the exact same programming with he exception of locals. All you would need is to change out the western arc Hybrid LNB to an eastern arc Hybrid LNB. You would also need to align the dish to see the new satellites.

Eastern Arc is Mpeg4 only whereas WA is MPEG2 and 4. EA had a 3 orbital as well, it was 77. At one time the international channels were on 61.5 and 118.7. Shifting demands and changes in leasing/licensing has us in the Arcs as they are now.

I have the HWS on the Western Arc along with the 61.5 and everything works just fine. Why wouldn't this setup function if I switched to the H3?

Hello I'm a newbie for this forum. I live in Sparks / Reno area have two 922's two 612's and 722k I'm receiving
110 / 119 / 129 I wanted to add a wing to get 61.5 to receive NYC locals in HD. What is the correct
EL / AZ / SKEW for that 61.5 location. The wing I'm using is a Dish 500 with DPP TWIN. My other dish is 1000.2 west cost arc. My first attempt using a birdog 2.5 meter. My check switch says 110/119/129 and no. 4 all show ok satellite verified. But no. 4 says
72.7 Not 61.5 So I guess I'm not on 61.5 for the wing. Thanks in advance.

You will not be able to receive New York locals in Hd or SD from your Reno location. NYs locals are on a spot beam that doesn't extend that far away.
