Is pressing the Hopper reset button the same as cycling power to it?Have any other Dish receivers had a reset button?

I've flung pushing the red button reboots my hopper faster than unplugging for the 10 sec. they recommend.
Other units reset by pressing and holding the power button. I believe it resets the software and the hardware.

No, it's not.
Pressing the reset button only resets the software. Power cycling will reset both the software & the Hardware.
Is there any "practical" difference between the two?
For example, when would you Reset and when would you pull the plug?
You would first try a RBR,then if your problem is not solved you would plug the plug.

I can't speak to the Hopper, but every prior receiver I've had (not counting the 301 which never needed tending), the 508, 721 and ViPs behaved differently with holding the power button vs pulling the plug. Pulling the plug was much more effective.

Sounds good -- I've been using it whenever I switch sat arcs.You would first try a RBR,then if your problem is not solved you would plug the plug.
