Hopper remote PSU.

As we all know, the hopper runs HOT. I have my hopper on my computer desk and I feel like I have my personal version of hell because of the heat it puts out.

As you have seen in the other thread, the PSU is not integrated with the board, but rather it's own board.

There are about 5 wires connecting the power supply board to the main board.

I'm going to look into it, but I'm thinking about making a enclosure for the power supply board, complete with fans.

This would prevent the heat of the power supply board from baking other components on the mainboard, and the hard drive.

Since you almost certainly do not own the Hopper, you should refrain from performing experiments on it.

Back up anything you want to keep on a regular basis.

Yeah personally, I don't find it worth $450 (cost of replacing leased Hopper) to do Dish's job when they'll just replace it for free if/when it dies. However if you choose to proceed, post pics!

I do have an owned Hopper I could experiment on but the same concept applies to owned receivers. Dish will replace dead ones however if I modify the Hopper to where I can't revert or if I cause damage that makes it obvious that I was tinkering with it the Dish won't replace it for free.
