Hey Everyone,
My two year commitment has expired with DirecTV and of course my bill has risen a bunch.

I want to call them and to lower my price, if not I'll switch to something else.

Anyway, what are some of the best deals you have negotiated.

Things I would like to ask for:

New Genie receiver (HR 44 or 54), currently have the 34
Reduced bill without a contract (best hope, I sure not attainable)
Reduced bill with 12 month commitment
If they want 24 month commitment than guarantee price for 24 months (I believe Dish is offering this)

Thanks

Sorry to disappoint, but you won't get another Genie, it's one per account.
Your best bet to get a Replacement for the 34 is to have a tech come to your house and ask him about it.

You want to lower your bill, I'm sure they can do that to a certain degree, it just depends if your being a realist of you want your bill cut in half.

I have seen accounts where the agent from retention was able to get a new Genie for free with a guaranteed HR44.
It's been a while, but this also came with a 24 month agreement,
as it was technically seen as an upgrade in our system, even though it was a like for like swap to an extent.

If you don't want a 24 month agreement, but want your bill cut significantly,
then good luck. You won't get a price guarantee for 24 months,
regardless of what DISH is offering.

Lower your package, deactivate receivers you don't use. Easiest way to get the bill down.
You may get some offers to cut your bill down a bit, but don't expect anything too extravagant, ESPECIALLY if you're wanting a new receiver too.

my 2 cents
base a service on its cost after all the credits are gone. dont like it dont get it
the directv website show the price for 2 years, ignore all but the last

whenever you sign up for service, the prices are listed for every month for at least 2 years

So here's a few questions. I, too, am nearing the end of my 2-year committment (12/26/13 was when I had it installed). I definitely want to negotiate (and another 2 year committment would be OK), but I have one more Sunday Ticket installment left that would be on the January bill. Do I have any leverage to threaten to cancel with that one Sunday ticket payment still owed?

Thats just it, you don't have to threaten to cancel ....
Just tell them the situation that you need to lower your bill or whatever your after.
Let them know your not planning to go anywhere and see if they can work things out for you.
It's often better to be straight forward than to threaten to leave.
