I'm trying to set up a dish for the first time to get channels from galaxy 19. It's an older dish I got from a relative (no branding anywhere) and it has a universal KU-band single LNBF that's new. I used a satellite finder app to position the dish/lnb, and I searched around for what settings to put into the receiver. I originally got around 45%-55% signal intensity, but somewhere in the process of messing around with the settings / dish position, I now consistently get 0%. I tried using the old settings I had before, rotated the lnb the opposite direction just in case, and it's still 0% so I'm not sure what I messed up. I'm using a short run of coax cable with new terminals, so all the connections should be good. Sorry in advance if I'm leaving out a bunch of info. Your patience will be appreciated :)

Good choice of receiver (same one here). Take your time and don't give up, I gave up in frustration and 7 months later came back and finally got it. Big thing is to find a satellite, then you can tweak from there. I first found 105W by getting the dish where I thought 97W was, then saw my signal intensity (not quality) go up as I slowly adjusted the dish. Then performed a blind scan and found I was on 105W. Mark that on your pole and swing it (1/16" is a lot on some Ku signals) whichever way you need to go. (Not saying 105W will be what you find first, that's just what happened to me). Main thing, use a sharpie so you have a reference! So much easier than starting from scratch in the future. You might also try putting in a couple different transponders, that's helped a lot when aligning various sats. In the 4 months my system has been working I went from just 97W to having 97/101 and 99/105, with more in my future haha. It's a blast even just on Ku.

Try changing the SR for the 12152 transponder to 20000. Or do a blind scan.
I'm still not getting any signal. Could it be an adjustment issue if my signal intensity is 0?

Thanks for all the info! I definitely have enough charge in me to keep going, for now. I'll be going at it again this weekend. I'll keep you all informed on any progress.

I'm still not getting any signal....
You won't receive that transponder until you change the SR to the correct value of 20000. My records show as recent as January that the SR is 20000, not 22000. If you don't know how to do that, then choose a different transponder on 97W Galaxy 19.

Signal Intensity tells you little. Focus on getting the Signal Quality to read something as you orient the dish back and forth, up and down using very small increments.

I'm a little concerned that he's getting 0 though. I would've thought there would be SOME voltage coming back from the LNB due to cosmic noise, internal noise, and whatnot.

Agreed. If the LNB is good, and if voltage is being supplied from the receiver to the LNB, then usually Signal Intensity should show an upscale reading.

Depends on the receiver. My Amiko gives a zero on Level and six on Quality, on any transponder not active on any of my satellites, or when pointing where there isn't a satellite.

Since k4otl has the same receiver, he would be able to confirm.
