Getting around the NFL blackout

Just rfead this in the Cincinnati newspaper:

"Blackout? What blackout?

That’s so last week. This week, we’re dealing with a friend from out of town. He has a Slingbox and Sunday Ticket on DirecTV. We tell him what the patrons at our establishment want to watch. That’d be Bengals-Texans. He provides it to our computer. We hook up our computer to our receiver, run it through our 20 TVs and bye-bye blackout.

We know another guy who has a bar. He has DirecTV. His receivers are registered to an address in a different state. No Bengals blackout in Michigan, commissioner."

Can't wait till the D* people show up and shut your bars down.

It may not happen right away, but it will... every year D* sends out people to go bar hoping to see who has the Ticket legally and if they find someone with it thats NOT legal ... big bills to pay.

Isn't the sling box a legal device Jim?

Let's set aside the question of the legitimacy of slinging to a public establishment for general public consumption aside. Does wolfjc's friend even have a commercial account so that he's paying the licensing for Sunday ticket to be shown to the public? Or is it just a residential account that is being used for that? If the latter, that would be a problem in and of itself.

Even then, I'd imagine that commercial licenses are established for particular locations and that slinging somewhere else for public use is not permissible under the license.

Yes, then Sling box is Legal, however the rest of what you posted is what I was getting at.

I doubt that a Commercial account is being used in this case, which make it illegal.

Not paying for the Commercial rights while making money off of it.
