Testing the new firmware release and just scanned over 1300 radio feeds on 139w. The first blind scan pass logged 980 radio services and a second pass logged almost 400 more. These channels logged with service names. No longer limited to 32 radio channels per transponder! :)

I have one of these receivers ordered and on it's way, anxious to get it and try it out!

Question, in the pictures of the receiver, there's HDMI and composite outputs both, can the HDVR3500 output on both of these simultaneously?

That's how my MicroHD is setup right now, the HDMI is hooked directly to our living room TV and the composite runs to a RF modulator for all the other TVs in the house. I'm hoping that the HDVR3500 can be hooked up the same as I have the MicroHD now.
 
Sat down and watched a music channel screen closely for the "Not Available" message. I see why I had missed it. That goes by fast! I looked at the transport stream and see that most of the channels are flagged as still pictures with the VPID rate between 20-50 kbps. That's dial-up speed! :D I observe the "Not Available" message when the video data drops between refreshing frames. I would think that it is an easy adjustment to increase the timeout. You can replicate this by changing the VPID to an invalid number. The HDVR3500 is unable to find a PID defined in the table and displays the message.

Recorded a .ts of the 125w MC transponder and posted it for their review. Anyone who wants to grab a transport stream to document any problem that they spot , I am using EBSpro with a PCIe TBS 6983 card. Right clicking on the transponder to select TS Grabber, then recording 4 or 5 minutes, win zipping and posting on the mega file hosting site. I then let Eugene know the url to retrieve the .ts file.

It sure does. The only way I could figure out what it said was to record a movie of the screen with my camera. Then I played it back in slow motion on my computer, paused, and did a screen capture.

I noticed in this latest release that the message is much smaller.

Its a very minor bug though. I plan to give this new release a complete test tonight.

Since there was a confirmation of a easy sub-1000 SR signal being tuned, does the frequency input allow fractions of a MHz, such as 1109.600 rather than just 1109 or 1110 whole MHz? There are sub-1000 SR radio distributions that don't fall close to a xxxx.000 whole MHz frequency so you need to enter a fraction MHz to get it on my PCl tuner card and software that allows fractional MHz frequency input.

I think the AFC in the tuner will lock on to the signal for you.

In fact, I've noticed when blind scanning that sometimes the receiver finds a channel twice on slightly different frequencies.

An example is the Mexican government feed on 117W labeled "Titan 3". A blind scan resulted in two entires: 4044/3333H and 4049/3330H. The AFC locks to the same channel whichever one I pick.

Beyond the receiver, I guess you also need an LNB with tolerance into the 100kHz range for this to make sense too.

If you have some examples, I can try them.
 
My vote would to be to add an additional Channel List sort type: "Polarity". This sort type would organize the horizontal channels separately from the vertical channels. It is a throw back to the legacy receivers...

For those of us with polarity servo motors on our feedhorns, it would save wear and tear on the servo polarity motors as we surf through the channels.

That would be fine also.
I was just a bit surprised when scanning in the channels by polarity that they were mixed in with previously scanned channels.
I agree if done right it would save wear & tear on the servo polarity motors.
Just had to replace a couple of them here on the dish farm.
 
maybe Skysurfer would provide a few example transponders for testing? Who knows, the HDVR3500 may already log the services. :D

I certainly wouldn't suggest displaying the extended frequency in any menu except the manual transponder entry field.

here's one for testing - SES-1C @ 101W - about 3754 MHz V pol - SR 727

Three of my dishes with Norsat DRO's can't lock using a PCI card blindscan program but when I use non-blindscan software that supports decimal frequency entry, I can adjust the frequency to 3754.xxx and get a lock.

manual entry would be the only place I'd expect to have or see decimal frequency as that would be the only way to add a digital signal to the receiver that blind scan missed.

that's not good that the HDVR3500 can't tune reliably between the two signals and especially since they are 5 MHz or so apart and not the typical 2 MHz apart like a lot of video services on Eutelsat 117W! 4044 and 4049 are different signals with almost identical symbol rates (not the same signal locked twice and logged as different frequencies). One is Panamerican tv (or something close to that) and the other is a Mexican government feeds channel.
 
Last week I provided a few .ts files of adjacent transponders that were not displaying correctly. I'll record these two 116.8w transponders and add to the testing resources.

Was told yesterday that the engineers were working on resolving and it would be corrected in an upcoming firmware release.

I can believe that. I think another receiver had that issue with SES-1 c-band signals that had 3-4 signals of the same SR and a few MHz apart and that was fixed...I think.
 
Hmmm... I have a (different) relatively new receiver that does that too. Scans in identical TPs 3-5MHz apart.. Was blaming the LNB (Norsat DRO) but maybe it has something to do with the receiver. Doesn't happen very often though ans I can't remember if it happens on one particular TP or satellite, but I think it was in the 114-117 degree range. I have one of Ti's dual C-band PLL LNBFs here, might switch feedhorns later and see if that makes a difference.
