Genie recording live events that end late

A couple weeks ago I set the Genie to record an Impractical Jokers live special that was supposed to run for 2 hrs and the final recording is 2:17. The special probably went late and I didn't set it to record for extra time, but it was all recorded anyway. Is this something that the Genie does (at least on some channels, like ones that allow you to rewind)?

It likely was a guide update or something that caused it to end at that time. i see it sometimes with sports on the subscription channels when the program stops, those are usually 6 hour recordings that end in the 5th hour.
