Or, conversely, if the same people who defend the price increases in that other thread also insist here that Charlie is justified in these these channel disputes because he keeps prices so low?
The 2015 price increases for several other providers (DTV, etc) have not been determined, yet, but I believe if someone looks at the average price increase, comparing each provider, 2012-2015, you will see that DIsh is either the lowest or one of the lowest. We've all had to raise prices due to increased cost to purchase programming.
To your point, it could be argued that if Dish didn't stand up to the providers, the cost would have been higher, and the cost passed on to the consumer would have been higher.
I don't think I am spilling any company secrets to say that there will be people at corporate who are monitoring (at least daily, perhaps hourly) how much compensation is being given out to satisfy existing customers. This all factors into decisions made in regard to settling this contract.
