FOX News Channel/DISH dispute

Or, conversely, if the same people who defend the price increases in that other thread also insist here that Charlie is justified in these these channel disputes because he keeps prices so low?

The 2015 price increases for several other providers (DTV, etc) have not been determined, yet, but I believe if someone looks at the average price increase, comparing each provider, 2012-2015, you will see that DIsh is either the lowest or one of the lowest. We've all had to raise prices due to increased cost to purchase programming.

To your point, it could be argued that if Dish didn't stand up to the providers, the cost would have been higher, and the cost passed on to the consumer would have been higher.

I don't think I am spilling any company secrets to say that there will be people at corporate who are monitoring (at least daily, perhaps hourly) how much compensation is being given out to satisfy existing customers. This all factors into decisions made in regard to settling this contract.

Yeah some folks don't know what it means to honor a commitment when they sign a contract. Kind of sad actually.

Me too. I thought there would be Fox Soccer Channel, FX, Fuel. Now we have FX, FXX, FS1, and FS2. With the loss of the EPL, Fox actually had less content to show, yet wants more money. Why are the FNC supporters giving Fox a pass on this?

I was a dish customer for 10+ years..I agree with charlie but its just too much..too many fights..I just want to watch TV..I don't need any drama

Fox killed the Speed channel, too. I remember how mad that made a lot of people. While some of the programming has wound up on other channels (MavTV, for example), a lot hasn't.

Notice this did not happen in the CNN thread. The difference isn't surprising, given the circumstances.

Seems so many had an overwhelming need to get a "faux news" jab in. In a recent poll, people familiar with that term could not identify Gruber, Berghdal, or Lerner (without the help of google). It is true, though, ignorance is bliss. There is too much bad stuff out there.

Many people do not watch the news, but FNC does have a loyal following that dish will feel.

Exactly! I do appreciate Dish trying to hold cost down ( if that is what is happening). But somehow these deals need to be worked out without affecting the end user quite so often.

I do watch the News Hour on occasion, if I happen to notice it's on while surfing the guide. It's not bad.

Of course, I'm only considering the content and not the attractiveness of the anchors, it being a source of news and information.

Most people said CNN was garbage and Turner was nuts. In this case a particular subset of people are defending the channel owner.

Kelly Gruber played third base for the Bluejays. Randy Lerner owned the Cleveland Browns and the Aston Villa EPL team. Berghdal either muffed the ground ball in the 86 World Series or was a soldier that was captured by the Taliban. I confuse the two.

Its no secret all companies are out to make the maximum money they can out of YOU. I don't blame FOX or DISH for fighting over price, its what they have to do. However the ONLY reason I am in DISH's corner here, is because FOX could have left the channels on while talks continued, but instead they pulled the channels. DISH did not pull the channels, the contract with FOX is expired and they can no longer carry the channels without permission of FOX.

The only thing that upsets me about the fights is beside us losing channels are people screaming from the top of the hills (most of them who DO NOT subscribe to DISH) that Charlie has done them wrong. And those who don't want to honor their contract and will do anything to get out. I don't know I have always been a man of my word and if I sign a contract I honor it. Now that I am out of contract I however am free to do as I wish, and if you are out of contract and want to switch providers then god bless you, no one blames you as you need to go where the programming is you want to watch... there is nothing wrong with that at all.
