Hey, Charlie is conversing with Scott now..... I say we put the burning torches out for a few days or weeks and see what comes of this.......

If we don't then we just become a bunch of internet trolls who can't be pleased by ANYTHING they try to do, so why bother?

Let's give them a little time. There will be PLENTY of time to storm the castle later if he totally blows us off then........

Thanks I already have a copy of the PDF so if Dish blows it out we still have it. :)

Can anyone make sound clips from the chats so we can put them online (as well as send them to Charlie.

The funny part of this is his tone in his emails he sounds way too defensive. Although I may be reading wrong, I do understand Charlie is a busy guy.

Right Bob, and I have to say I'm impressed three-fold with the following: :)
1. Scott, for this site and getting info like this to us
2. This site itself, for the collaborative efforts of all the great members
3. Charlie Ergen, for taking the time to work with Scott (and indirectly, with us) on this

I do see a good trend in terms of E* responding to this site lately. There was the initial MPEG4 mention during the investors meeting and its related stirrings on here--they collected our questions and gave us some [vague] answers. Then there are the ever increasing buffering and playback A/V glitches on the 522--they set up a test group with logging software to speed up the debug process. Now this, I'm real interested to see what happens in the next 24 hours on here. :)

Well said Bob. No one, especially billionaire CEO's, responds well to personal attacks and threats. I know I don't ;) . The fact that Charlie is even corresponding with Scott is a positive sign. Let's see what answers are forthcoming.

I said DONT do this, if we all let this pass us by the flame will go out, and it will happen again and again.

Fool me once shame on me...

Don't let the fire go out.

I am not the only person effected by this discision, therefore I should not be the only one fighting the battle.

Please keep the fire going, working together we can work wonders. :D

I know Charlie is working with us a bit on that, and I am very appreciative of his help, however the following was just sent to me and I felt I needed to pass this on.

The following graphic comes to us from one of our members (Not sure if he wants to be named or not)

I thought this was too funny not to share. :D

I am a new Dish Network subscriber as of last week. I got a 2 room system with the 510 and 311. This NBR recording would be a great addition to the 510. I really hope that this gets added. As a new customer and reading this forum makes me really want to reconsider my decsion of becoming a customer.

Hey, if they actually started conversing with us (I don't count those softball throwing mentally challenged types that the screeners put through on the chats) then MAYBE we can work on fixing this ship.

Right now E* is at a competitive disadvantage and D*, the sleeping giant, has finally awoken with a vengeance. E*, the HD leader? Please. Sports? Hey, points for most improved by adding MLB, NHL, and the NBA (except that you haven't really added all of them yet..... No Yankees, Devils (whenever they come back), etc.). D* keeps throwing gigantic sums of $ at the NFL for the exclusive rights, and I understand you can't beat that right now. Cricket and English soccer is useless for most of the American audience who haven't been transplanted from other parts of the world to the USA. Right now, the last thing you can claim is the "low price" angle, and a lot of companies went broke chasing THAT audience. Most of the "whales" have already (or are planning to) jump ship unless things change quickly.

E*, you lost the momentum you had two years ago when you were adding market share at D*'s expense (you were both growing, but E* was growing subscribers faster with the LIL and Internationals). You've run out of gas on the LIL front (few markets left to open), and D* is stealing sports fans and HD fans, which will drive their numbers up even higher over the next year. You DO have the largest share of the PVR market, and should continue to push that angle, but you NEED to embrace HD more or plan on your exit strategy before Echostar begins to look like Blockbuster (a company whose best years are behind it).

In business, you are either growing or you are dying. The latter tends to rush up at a LOT of companies faster than they expect. Don't ignore the warnings and right the ship now (or at least outline your plans to help deflect some of the criticism).

I don't want to step on any toes here, but.....

"Details subject to change without notice"

That little caveat is on every page.

Charlie still wants quotes (exact quotes...)

Here is the email I just got from him
Give me the exact quotes on dishwire and dishinteractive..i know interactive
is a downloadable feature that can be done in the future
c

This was my reply to Charlie...
Charlie, the link I just sent you had it there in clear black and white, also the origional spec sheet for the 921 also has it in there.

And again why should a subscriber have to wait a year or more (in the case of Interactive) for an advertised feature to work on a receiver they purchased?

When you buy a DirecTV receiver all features work out of the box. There is no wait a year or so for a software upgrade which will turn on this feature.

Interactive? I thought we were asking about NBR.

We didn't forget about the 510's.

I am waiting for someone to find the audio from the july chat where they talked about NBR and gave approx release dates for each model. :)

Hopefully someone can find it and send it to me. That is what Charlie is looking for.

Also a good find from Jason Kraght on DBSTalk its a press release issued by Dish Network on September 5th, 2003.

The line of interest is this one...
-- DISHWire connection for future downloading and storage of content

Good find Jason. :)

There is is AGAIN in Black and white.

Can someone please get me the audio from the July Tech Chat? :)

Scott

Has there been any indication that this info was going to be released or was it just going to be brushed under the rug. I don't want to run Charlie up a tree, but I also would like to know where we go from here.
