One day dvr will have kids, and he'll feel differently about this kind of situation.

Sandra

I have a kid... and I don't need to feel different about it since again Joe isn't the one that is at fault of the crime here and AGAIN the media is blowing this up and he's taking the biggest fall. Do I think he's not at fault some how or another....I don't believe I've said either way so don't stick suggestive idea's into my head or say "one day blah blah" there is no one day...today is now and yes again I have a kid... don't think for one second I didn't apply any sympathy towards the kids that were victims here cause that's not true..enough with that nonsense.

A small statement by Paterno kinda speaks volumes: "with the benefit of hindsight, maybe I should have done more than I did."
In my opinion, this validates that he knew what was going on, but just had a different priority on doing the right thing.

The key here is he should have done more but what did he do..nobody really knows or what was it he could have done beyond what he did. At the end of the day someone that witnessed another being hit by a car could have said "maybe I should have done more than I did" ....ok?? There is a wide open discussion here and it could go all sorts of directions...nobody really knows and its all speculation but as I've said many times already the Media is hitting him hard like a storm with him holding up the lightning rod cause of the icon he is and was.

Also, it will be interesting to see if there will be more news about the timing of and reasons for Sandusky’s surprising retirement at age 55, in 1999....

And isn't it strange that once Sandusky left Penn State he was never considered for another coaching position anywhere in the country. Penn State had great defenses under Sandusky, but nobody else wanted him?

Make you think either:

1. Penn State somehow blacklisted this guy
or
2. Staying in the Happy Valley area was more important to Sandusky for some reason than coaching football elsewhere.

He's lost his job for a very valid reason, that's the fall he's taken, he's done falling (pending more coming out). He was a coach for a long time, it's a legit story.

He lost his job cause Penn State and it's Board wanted to make everyone MEDIA INCLUDED see that they did something or at least the everything they could and more...which from what Joe said.. he wished he had done more, the board of directors didn't want to be seen later on as not doing enough so they had to throw the red paint on someone for that bull to chase and that someone was Joe.

Anyway I'm done with this discussion...yall speculate all day long still won't change the events that have taken place....shame not even flipping over a TV truck will help.

The problem is he knew SOMETHING and then apparently was ok with this guy hanging around for another decade. There's really no rationalizing that, for any length of time. Translate that to your workplace, aren't you going to question why someone is still around after hearing even whispers of this level of awful?

From what I read Penn State including Paterno basically told Sandusky, we don't care if you rape kids, just don't do it on campus.

The football program needs to be scrubbed with bleach from top to bottom.

Poor Joe Paterno. Such a victim here. Jeesh.

I want to know why Mike McQueary is still on the staff.

If JoePa gets fired for hearing about the incident and not doing the right thing, why isn't the guy who witnessed it, and only told his boss, also being fired? Didn't he also have an obligation to call police?

Did Joe break the law? No BUT he as a coach of young men and the face and leader of that university should of gone to the police after 2002 even if he felt Sandusky didn't do anything because it was the right thing to do.

As a leader comes great responsibility, and he chose not to do anything but tell the AD.

Poor dvr...if you have Hart, cybok and me on the same side of an argument, well, that's not easy to do!

Your arguments show you are unfamiliar with the events. Here's a link to the grand jury report that details them. I recommend having a puke bucket handy. You'll see Paterno knew about this a long time ago, unless you think everyone is lying.

Yeah, if you read all that, after being sick if you still want to stick with the 'we don't know what Paterno knew' mantra, and continue to claim Paterno is a victim...well, you're on your own.

A University of Nebraska regent called for safety assurances from Penn State on Thursday, saying he fears for the Cornhuskers' football traveling party and fans at this weekend's game.

Regent Tim Clare of Lincoln said he began worrying about safety while watching televised coverage of the scene in State College, Pa., after coach Joe Paterno's firing Wednesday night.

Police in riot gear dispersed about 2,000 people who took to the streets after coach Joe Paterno was fired. Crowds toppled a television news van and kicked in its windows, and at least one photographer was pelted with a rock. Officers used pepper spray at times to control the crowd.

Because more than likely, he knows more and can make things even worse for the university.
