Just rumors but good lord, this might just be getting a lot worse.....'pimping to rich donors.....'
I'd seen this too. The claim is that his 2nd mile foundation was essentially a network for providing boys to wealthy pedophiles.

There are some great football games on this weekend, and I don't know that I will be able to stomach watching any of them.

Well, Paterno wouldn't really consider going to the home game on Saturday...would he? I mean, he only lives minutes from the stadium. Even he's not THAT crazy...right?

Sandra

The old man attending Saturday's game would be the height of selfishness. We thought what he's done (or not done) to this point was bad, that would be worse...

Playing devil's advocate concerning McGraevy,Jerry Sandusky was apparently a friend of the family & most likely an authority figure. Imagine someone in your life that you hold in high estime, whether it be your father, coach, etc. Now imagine walking into a room & seeing him doing something so vile & disgusting. Your first reaction will be complete shock & disbelief. Your next reaction will be to turn & run. It's human nature. It doesn't excuse McGraevy.but can YOU honestly say you'd do differently if it were you? Now McGraevy, his father,& Penn State needed to immediately needed to notify law enforcement,& they ALL failed miserably. That is McGraevy's real fault,he didn't notify law enforcement.
I understand what you're trying to say, and like someone posted earlier, the world is full of people who shirk responsibility for their own selfish reasons. But when your exposed actions, or inaction, result in something as horrific as this, whether you felt you were taking appropriate action or not, there will be consequences. McGraevy, like the others, should pay a price.

Umm he's 84 years old... he prob doesn't know what a Mosquito is let alone how many fly...but you think what ya like, I think he knew something but didn't do what others wanted him to do or expected and that could be for anyone at any time - he didn't do the crime though and all the attention has shifted onto him and it's not right. Like I said... he will die from this, the stress will kill him.
umm...I meant at the time of the incident. joepa isn't a victim here. we all pay for our mistakes. his time came. so will yours,so will mine. :)

it would be unbelievable. he does have the balls. just like he had the cojones to say "i will retire at the end of the season". lets just say i won't be shocked if he does

As of now, Mike McQueary will be there, and that's wrong.
very!!!! this university has MAJOR issues!!!

i agree. and McQueary....... he's worse than joe. why in the world is this guy still there?!

The guys name is Mike McQueary.
fits!

He was in his early 70s or younger when this began.

Can you imagine the stress placed on a 10 year old being sexually abused?

Again... VERY OLD... and AGAIN...he wasn't the one that commited the sexual abuse here -- but the media is making him out to be a monster and its wrong, the blame needs to go towards this guy that did the acts. The stress from this will kill him regardless of how bad I feel for the 10year old or whoever it is what it is.

At the end of the day each one of us including myself are not at all informed as to all the facts so we only speculate and guess what we think should and shouldn't happen... but the issue here is Joe wasn't the one that commited the offense - the icon he is has made him a lightning rod for media outcry and its wrong.

It's not a question of who is worse...Sandusky or Paterno. You can stop making that comparison.

Sandusky will get his due if what they say happens in prison is true, and I don't think anybody cares. And what's hopefully worse is that he'll have to live with this forever.

So forget Sandusky.

But that does not exonerate Paterno. Paterno should not go to prison, this is a different issue, but the fact remains it's very likely that his silence allowed additional young boys to be raped.

Sorry but nobody here knows the real truth of what happened and the level of "silence" Paterno gave or didn't give during this time frame.. nobody really knows but him - still the issue here is with media...they are blowing it way up in his face and thats wrong...focus needs to be about Sandusky and these abused kids.

Paterno's focus should have been on Sandusky and the abused kids in 1998 and 2002. Paterno chose to keep quiet then, which is why he was fired.

Do you know for a fact of what he said and didn't say or what he should have said during these times periods and the circumstances revolving around each issue as it was regarded by law? I sure don't...and you can bet nobody not even many lawyers do at this point... so you and I and others just speculate...still the truth here is media is firing up this storm around him and it's not right.... they need to get out of his face let the courts see what is going on and the facts get figured out and then once the dust settles we can point fingers.

Seems like the Grand Jury knows.

A small statement by Paterno kinda speaks volumes: "with the benefit of hindsight, maybe I should have done more than I did."
In my opinion, this validates that he knew what was going on, but just had a different priority on doing the right thing.

Also, it will be interesting to see if there will be more news about the timing of and reasons for Sandusky’s surprising retirement at age 55, in 1999....
