Season 3 will be 16 episodes. I'm planning on buying the first half of Breaking Bad Season 5 (8 episodes) in sd ($1.89 each) if I have to from Amazon. I've already read The Walking Dead graphic novels, so I can wait for Season 3 to show up on Netflix sometime next year.
Aren't both Comcast and Direct TV both larger than Dish Network? That would make Dish their third largest distributor. Still a large blow though.Since DISH is AMC's second largest distributor then I do think it will have an impact.
I thought it was as the stomach turns so does the satellite. Are you suggesting the name of the thread be changed to, As The Satellite Turns?
sam_gordon said:No, actually what you were talking about (whether you meant it or not) was advertisers picking their shows/networks based on target audiences (demos). That's why you might see a Depends commercial during 'Murder She Wrote' (your example). And, it doesn't matter how many subscribers a network has, if no one's watching, no one will see the ad.
That being said, assuming AMC goes off and stays off Dish, will advertisers who purchased Mad Men want a discount when the new season comes around? Sure.
Will the discount they get (if they get one) have a major impact on AMC? I don't think so.
AT&T's U-Verse May Drop AMC Before Mad Men Premiere :: TV :: News :: Paste
What is that I smell...... it's the sweet smell of vindication that this is an AMC issue, not Dish, not VOOM........ Perhaps Uverse will blink, but it still shows exactly what some of us have posted, lets wait till contracts for other carriers come up and see. Seems At&t is saying just about what Dish is about the product.
"While AT&T representatives claim “Rainbow channels are among the least-watched and most overpriced per viewer,” AMC says U-Verse is merely looking out for “corporate interests” and cheating the company’s 2.3 million subscribers."
(And yes, partly you contribute that to postulating....)
So can AMC afford to lose both carriers?
