Dish 4K channels on LG TV

I have top of the line LG OLED 4k TV. When I select multiview or a 4K channel (147) . I get a black screen with little rotating dots and a message that says "invalid format". If I cycle TV power a few times it will sometimes work. The dish people replaced my hopper3 and all the switch stuff on my roof with the same results. The tech pointed out that the invalid format is an LG message not a Dish message so it must be a problem with LG. Has anyone seen this problem and is there a fix? LG has offered no help.

You might want to replace yoir HDMI cable between the Hopper 3 and the TV. Make sure it is an HDMI 2.0, 18Gbps cabel similar to this:

thanks, I had a high end HDMI cable that is 25" long. replaced it with a 12' cable and it works fine. I guess the Dish Hopper3 can't supply a long transmission line.

More likely the cable was defective or not "premium certified" which is the terminology for the 18Gbps cables required to pass 4K HDR. The package it came in should have had a hologram on it. See here: https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/premiumcable/Premium_HDMI_Cable_Certification_Program.aspx
