so i've been waiting here all day, during my alloted installation time (12-5), and they still haven't shown. i cant find their policy online for late/not showing up for the install. anyone got any info.

well in my eyes they owe me at least 5 hours of what i make at work, since i left early to sit here...

Should have dealt with a local retailer.. You would already be kicked back in your easy chair with a brew, watching tv.. :)

Why ???
If you buy at the local retailor they will have you set up an installation date and time and it will get passed on and the SAME installation company will do the install.

WRONG

You buy from a local.. He comes and does the work.. I usually install next day from when you come in.. Sometimes I do same day installs.. We are independent.. And we give the same deals.. And I show up when I say I will.. Most Independents do.

When you said from local, I thought you were talking about the BB's and CC's that type of local.

Sorry, got our signals crossed.

my install is about 45 minutes to be late!

and i havent received a call!

mine ended up coming 1 hour late last night (around 6:10, with a 12-5 time slot). i had to leave around 645, but my wife was home so he came in and started. couldnt get a signal using a tripod and some other stand he had because the way my balcony was, so we needed to make a cement bucket stand to get right up against the railing. i went out this morning and got the cement and he met me back here first thing this morning and finished up. real nice guy, i was going to complain to direct tv, but everything worked out, so im just happy to be done.

I always take the early time slot hoping to minimize the chance that they'll have big issues at multiple earlier appointments. In my mind, taking the later time slot increases the chance of getting bumped, because you have no idea what might happen at the 3 or 4 appointments before you.

well mine was a 8-12 window. im in california.

he showed up at 11:40. asked him why didnt he called. he told me that he did but it was the wrong number!

who's fault is that?

i mean i signed up for an online account with the correct number!

did the job in 30 minutes i only had one room to install!

Velore,
DTV wants it all. They have a Home Service Provider (HSP) program and a Master Service Provider (MSP program that keeps the installs in house. The announced purpose is better control of installation services. What really happened is those who were involved about a year ago walked away from the new lower prices. As an installer, I received four work orders for the same day during the same AM time period....I knew things were falling apart. I needed an hour to contact each of the four scheduled customers and let them know there was a problem. Did one in the AM and one in the PM. Did the other two the next day. Don;t install for that company anymore.

Back when mine was installed the guy dropped and broke the lnb on the previous install and broke open "my" box and used that lnb then came to me and put up the dish before tellin me he couldnt finish the job. Hope when i go the hd dvr route I can just get em to send me the dvr since i dont need a dish or anything

I know for a fact if a technician is late you get a $20.00 credit. I once had a 8-12 time slot and called Directv at 12.00 on the dot, while on the phone the tech showed up, I told Directv to forget it , he's here and they told me because he was a even minute late, he's still late. I'll get a $20 credit - Good for me.

Just because you got a credit does not mean that it is the policy of D* to give them out. If the technician has called or tried to call you, and noted his ETA (even if it is outside of your appointment window), D* is under no obligation to give you any refund/credits.
