Direct TV late for installation...

Wish I had this problem, 8 phone calls, an email, and 5 days have passed since I placed an order for DirecTV online.

Due to a 'problem with my account' they are unable to arrange for an install and am waiting for them to call me 'within the next 72 hours'.

They have about 20 hours left.

well in my eyes they owe me at least 5 hours of what i make at work, since i left early to sit here...
hope you're being facetious. All kidding aside, no call no shows are inexcusable. To be fair it is highly possible that the tech that left his office with your job also had as many as 5 or 6 more...Too many jobs, assigned to too few people equals poor customer service, stressed out burned out techs and pissed off customers..But the satellite business in general has been run this way for years.
How both D* and E* are so sucssful is a real hedscratcher.

WRONG

You buy from a local.. He comes and does the work.. I usually install next day from when you come in.. Sometimes I do same day installs.. We are independent.. And we give the same deals.. And I show up when I say I will.. Most Independents do.[/QUOTE/]
Yeah..us too..We say what we do and do what we say....always go local...

I always take the early time slot hoping to minimize the chance that they'll have big issues at multiple earlier appointments. In my mind, taking the later time slot increases the chance of getting bumped, because you have no idea what might happen at the 3 or 4 appointments before you.

You always take the early appointments"?..How often do you have satellite installed?

well mine was a 8-12 window. im in california.

he showed up at 11:40. asked him why didnt he called. he told me that he did but it was the wrong number!

who's fault is that?

i mean i signed up for an online account with the correct number!

did the job in 30 minutes i only had one room to install!
The tech was on time!...The time frames are the ARRIVAL times...If it says 8-12 that menas the tech could ArRIVE anytime between 8 and 12....It does not mean the tech will be there at 8.. Nor does it mean that the work is to be completed by 12..Sheesh!....Did you think that the tech who did your work had only YOUR job that day?

Can you describe the problem?

Ok..first off did yo uget a pre call form the tech stating that he'd be at your home at a certain time?..If not, what makes you think he would call you if he isn't running late?
If the tech has but one number and it is invalid ,is it HIS fault he cannot contact you?....What would you have him do..Drop what he is doing and start an investigation to hunt you down?..Perhaps he shpuld have called your local telco to get your nuimber or maybe, just maybe you'd have practiced due dillegence and called Directv to confirm your appointment and verified the info they had on you as correct..
You may think I am flaming you..I am not. I get perturbed at this stuff because I make courtesy calls all the time..I pre call my customers in the morning. If I get them on the phone I confirm the info on the work order and I give a rough two hour window as a courtesy. If I am running late or early I send a heads up call to the customer. I spend an inrodinate amount of time on the phone and I have the mobile phone bills to prove it..
The bottom line is customers do have responsibilites...
BTW how does it work when the shoe is on the other foot and a customer blows off their appointment and wastes my gas and time?..I get bupkis...And a non complete.....This happens all the time too....

dude seriously im not blaming the Tech!

who im blaming is DirecTV for giving him the wrong number!

the tech was good & speedy! i judt told him where i wanted the dish and where i wanted the cables to run!

took him 10 minutes to mount the dish and pass the wires! took him 10 minutes to activate the receiver. and like 7 minutes to show me how to record stuff how to stretch the picture and program the remote..

once againg i registered for the online account where it asks me to input the number on the account.. and i registered without a problem!

i called the day after i signed up and everythimng was okay with the workorder.

so it wasnt my fault nor the tech and it wasnt even Directv's fault so who knows how the workorder was printed!

So true.

Dishcomm,

For several years and from a few companies I received batches of installation orders in my area. I contacted the customers and sent back my schedule to the installation company.
I faxed back completed work orders and was paid promptly.

Now we have CSRs running the show.."Lemmie get your ETAs for this AM?" Three installs? Whatdoyoumean two will be in the PM?...Just see if I pick up your line to close them LATE JOBS!"

So it goes,
Joe

i can confirm that if the tech doesnt show up between the appointment slot directv does credit you 100 dollars i had 3 now shows in a row back in feb and got credited 100 dollars for each missed appointment and when they couldnt do the 4 appointment they gave me a 20 dollar credit for six months off my bill . so after all that i actually got my new hddvr and 1 month of service for free
