OK, maybe the 5M was a bit of an exageration.charper1 said:Get it yet? It is VERY SIMPLE math! Even at a non-acheivable $20/rate for non-HD subs and a very high $200/mo for HD subs, the masses STILL out earn.
I think he meant that not all the races are on TNT in general. For 2006 TNT will have 7 races plus some Daytona 500 events like the Bud Shootout, Dual 125's and qualifying.ramy said:Yes they are. Starting with last year all the races on TNT-HD were in fact HD even the Busch races were.
At least next weekend anyway...dragon002 said:satmeister,
but there is directv in heaven, and the allmighty watches the steelers on it
Here's a quote from the CEO of a Multibillion dollar communications company on the subject today:herdfan said:As for CC calling the V* channels crap, he had to do that. Those of us that visit boards such as these may know exactly what the V* channels are. And some of us like them. But the general public really has no idea.
FIREBIRD81 said:What is it with Directv customers tha tyou are willing to take it in the ass? And Directv is supposed to be the "highend" service?? Riiigghhht. He's blowing smoke up your asses, like Directv has always done. As far as Food network and HGTV--those are two great channels I'd be willing to see in HD. Keep your crappy 5 channels that are down-rezzed and call it compelling, quality HD programming. I'm gonna go watch HDNET in FULL rez beauty.
I knew we could count on the naysayers to show up on this - there are a few more that are regulars here.Satmeister said:Somewhat shocked to see that 2 particular verbal assassins have not chimed in - but thats a good thing.
BTW - I watch HDNet in beautiful HD already with DirecTV. If you want to compare picture quality some time - I have won 8 bets so far with others who thought they had better PQ with Comcast and Dish HD - they all lost their $20.FIREBIRD81 said:What is it with Directv customers tha tyou are willing to take it in the ass? Nor is the Aquarium Channel, Paint Drying Channel, or Psychodelic Music Channel.dragon002 said:BTW , to each his own.....to me watching the galloping gourmet, julia child and some idiot yelling BAM! is not compelling content.

Kinda reinforces Carey's statement.
dragon002 said:ok, i get it. they blasted up the spaceway twins and have two more birds going up this year just for kicks and giggles.

NO. It reinforces a spade is a spade. People will only accept watching dribble in HD for a short time - which is why Voom's service went out of business - they were dropping off like flies (no pun intended) quicker than new customers could be acquired.herdfan said:I think it does exactly the opposite. He is saying that people will watch anything in HD. So if E* has V*, that will attract more people who won't care that it might be crap.
Satmeister said:Not exactly newsworthy - most of us knew that already. :

The point was that the issue had been exhaustibly bantored about for many months.T2k said:You mean the fact that the guy is laughable, especially after this comment?
You clearly missed the point - it had nothing to do with the "importance" of HD, rather, it had to do with the fact that there was a demand so strong that people will watch almost anything that is in HD. Try reading it again in the context of the previous line that describes the rapid growth of HD.T2k said:Ummm and this shows what exactly?
I can quote 10 other CEOs saying HD is the most important thing this year...
You're proving nothing but DirecTV's smear campaign, built on consumer stupidity, is working well among its customers...
Poetry from the trailer park I suppose. The use of this language is soooooo convincing.T2k said:It's kinda funny, as the oth3er poster said, that some DirecTV customers actually enjoy being taking it into the @ss, moreover they are proud of it...
Here's a new slogan for DirecTV;
"DirecTV HD: BOGUTI - bend over, grease up and take it!"

Point is - HD is still very much in the 1st half of its evolution process with all providers - not quite a science yet, still more of an art form at this stage.
In any account, it will only get better - and we should all enjoy the ride along the way. :up

Continuing evidence that the verbal assassins just love to chastise just for the sake of argument alone. Live with it my friend, HD is here to stay - and not all of us are either wound up like a tight spring or sitting there with a signal meter 24X7 like some of the technocritics here. Some of us like what we have and look forward to the future, as opposed to spending our days whining.
