I was told by customer service that he can't authorize anything more than 2 hws and 3 joeys and he would forward my request onto another dept that would contact me within 24 hours. I've been a customer for years and my account is in good standing. Am I getting the run around? Is there another customer service that can authorize it? Am I asking for too many boxes???

Any help would be great!!!! Thanks!!!!!

2HWS/3 or more J should be no problem. But by far most installs seem to be 1 H etc. CSR is not up to par.

Its normal, Dish gets picky when people ask for too many hoppers. They assume the average customer can live with 1 hopper + 3 joeys. But for the sake of having multiple tuners people ask for extra hoppers instead of joeys or a mix of both(like me). As I understand dish will supply two hoppers(WS or Reg) and from the third hopper on wards you have to pay for the equipment.(I am not sure but I think I've read about it being this way).

This is a rare setup which I don't have personally, but I can assure you 99% of the CSRs don't know how to handle these situations. Keep calling until you get an agent who has set up other customers with multiple hoppers. My main suggestion is to contact DIRT on this forum with your account number and security pin since they are THE BEST when it comes to friendly service representatives who understand a customers unique situations. (They will answer all of your questions and provide you with the best possible options that they can)

If the joeys had a tuner in them then it wouldn't be an issue.,my guess is when they came out with the original hopper system they figured not all the Tv's in the house would be on at the same time.

One of the most common VIP setups I have seen over my time is a 722 and a 211, or a 722 and a 612. A lot of houses have three televisions, with the upper norm being a 722/222 combo, or a 722/722 combo. Of course, I have seen many, many more receivers on an account, but I am guessing that the idea for the Hopper was to have 3 tuners, as most houses have a maximum of 3 or 4 tuners, and 4 tuners are rarely used at the same time. Realize, what I see or have seen is anecdotal, there are 14 million customers, and I have probably seen 20,000-30,000 accounts in my time. A small sample, really. Thought process was that 1H/2J and 1H/3J would cover most customers and their needs.

Then, of course, came the expansion where customers could get 2 Hoppers. And for some, 3 Hoppers (as long as they buy Hopper #3).

I remember when the Hopper rolled out. Great system, but I remember even then thinking that 3 tuners wasn't enough for a portion of the customer base, and wondering if we'd ever add more tuners to the Hopper. We didn't do that, of course. What we did do was make Hopper #2 far more affordable (up-front costs) over the last 15 months or so.

Shoot me a PM with your information if this hasn't been taken care of yet.

You are right that most people have those configurations of equipment but what Dish doesn't know is how many extra TVs are mirrored. Like you said, a 722 and 211 or 222 is very common but we have many customers that mirror side 2 of one of those receivers to other rooms.

Trying to duplicate that scenario with the Hopper system is harder to do since the Joeys do not have a coax out.

But duplicating that is just simply adding a $10 modulator and connecting coax cable. With 722/222 the coax wasn't HD and the modulator still wouldn't be HD.

Not as simple as you make it seem. You can not diplex this system so you would need to have two cables running to that location. We have found that the remote range on the Joeys is not always that great either.
