I am looking at caving in and buying a HD DVR. If I am only using a single HDTV and not 4 or 5 others why would I want to buy a 942 over a 921? Is the quality of the recording better? As I understand they both can record 2 channels at the same time. What else makes the 942 a better product? (or does it?) Comments appreciated.

The 942 can record from all 3 tuners at once, has NBR, Dual mode lets you retire a receiver in another room, in Single mode both HD and SD outputs are live, HD PIP.

Wait for a Super Deal

I have been tempted to buy a E* HD DVR since the 921 came out, but have decided to stick with my 6000 plus a 510 connected to my HD TV until either E* comes out with a good deal on the 942 or a reasonable deal on their new MPEG-4 HD DVR. My local Circuit City store is selling the D* HD TIVO DVR for $499 (after a $100 D* mail in rebate). This should put pressure on E* to lower their price on the 942 to the same price, give a very good lease deal for the 942, and a super deal on the 921!
