I currently have Time Warner triple bundle, want to dump cable part and get Dish Hopper and Joey for 4 TV's, any issue with Dish installer making the switch to install Hopper. I ask as I'm not sure if disconnecting TWC Cable boxes would effect existing TWC Internet and phone. I could switch Internet and phone to AT & T but want to keep it simple. Would appreciate any insight, don't want to order Dish until I know what's going to be effected.

Should not be an issue at all. The technician should not do anything to mess with your internet or phone. There are lots of people that actually have both at the same time.

Another alternative is also dump TW phone and go with another VOIP. I have Dish, Vonage and super basic cable. Vonage has a plan that they don't advertise. 300 min/month to the USA, Canada and PR that costs a total of $17/mo. The super basic TW is about $15/mo.

That's exactly the setup we have - Dish for TV, and TWC for internet and phone. If all the TV cables come back to one point, you shouldn't have any issues. If they (TWC) daisy-chained everything with splitters when they installed, Dish could have some issues with cabling, especially if it's all RG-59 coax. I'm sure the Dish installers have "seen it all before," so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

One has nothing to do with the other, no worries.

There could be worries depending upon the installer. I did a Dishmover in 2004, and the imbecile failed to show for my Friday appointment, and instead showed up unannounced on Saturday when only my wife was home. As his first act, he unplugged my cable Internet for no reason I could fathom. That took down my home servers, email, and all phone service. (At that time, I had no reception via cell at home.)

To add insult to injury, he put the Dish dish on an old DirecTV mast when in fact he had no LOS to 119, and also wanted to charge me $100 for the 2nd dish pointed at 61.5! I couldn't even call Dish to resolve that problem, because I had no phone. It was a real mess. It took 3 more tech visits to get everything working.

Ok, I'll re-state. As long as you are home to oversee, one has nothing to do with the other, no worries. :D

I guess he means this.

U.S. & CANADA 300 INCLUDES:

  • 300 minutes of outbound local and long distance home phone service across U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico and just 5¢ for each additional minute.
  • Special low rates to 10 countries including Philippines, Guatemala and Jamaica.

Only issue you might run into, if you have a cable stb on the same line as your modem, which cable can do just fine. A seperate cable will need to be ran for that TV location for dish.

If your modem is on its own cable, no problems!
