AMIKO Amiko A3 Owners Thread

I also done short recordings and not seeing this effect, I will record a hour clip and see, I am using a external HDD for my recordings and I am not able to delete any recordings under the filelist , I posted this problem at fridge FTA, I try 2 HDD and the same issue, not sure if this only happen with external HDD if any of you have a external HDD try to delete one of the recordings and let us know.
Regards.

OK, I did a little over 1/2 hour on KCWY on 99W, and had the issue within the first minute of recording. It repeated itself several times. I then looked at my older short recordings all of which were made Lukens group over on 87W. The longest was something a little over 5 minutes. I did not see any issues on the three of those. I guess the next question should be, can I get the 87W stuff to do it on a longer recording. That would, in theory, remove the possibility of it being a given transponder/channel causing it. So, I guess, I'll move the dish and try a longer one there.

I have not upgraded anything on my A3, other than the BBC iPlayer (cough, cough). I also record to a HDD in the A3.

I am not going to try to delete anything just yet, as may need the files for investigation.

Did a little over 1/2 hr recording on #5 on the Luken Mux 87W (which happens to be the same place my short recordings were made) and didn't see a blip. Played back perfectly. So..., it starts to look like the Fickle Finger of Fate is starting to point to specific transponders/channels. I may try the feed for MeTV just to see if I get the same as well. Also waiting for Titanium's report from there as well.

Moved to 101W and tried the MeTV1 and found that it does just what Dee_Ann was talking about. It doesn't take long to see it, a 2 or 3 minute recording should suffice. Assuming Titanium gets the same results, I would venture to guess that something in the stream is causing the A3 to have issues on certain signals or channels. We have seen that on some it is fine and others it is not. I'll wait to see what everybody else comes up with, before saying anything more here or at Fridge.

Hello All
I can also duplicate the issue on 101W - MeTV1, I rerecorded COZI on 99W and some of the HD on 97W and no issues.
Regards.

Tried KRBK on 99W, their MeTV and had no issues. Just thought would pass that on, in case someone was wanting to record MeTV on the A3. As usual your mileage may vary.

I had no issues with 99W here either. I am doing some test recordings on 101W MeTV and others now.

Confirmed here also MeTV on 101 starts acting up in the first 5 seconds of the recording. Definitely something with that one stream.

Well, I think we have enough information now. I'll gather everything and go put a post over on the fridge with the pertinent data.

Just to recap:

1.) Transponders/channels giving/causing issues: KCWY on 99W and MeTV1 on 101W

2.) Those that are or have been a non issue: COZI on 99W, MeTV on 99W and the Luken Mux on 87W. There are probably others.

Issue is tiling and random repeats.

I am truly relieved to learn that for once it’s not just me. WHEW!!

Also, while y’all are looking closely at stuff, try watching Movies! on 101.
The video, when watched in real time looks like it’s running at about 20 frames per second, or lower. Something like watching security camera footage from a convenience store.
It looks pretty awful. The movies do it but the commercials seem to play smoothly.. I recorded some of a movie and while I watched it in real time, it was terrible.
I downloaded the recorded video via ftp and it played back on my Mac just fine, it looked normal as it should, smooth playback.

I've used the A3 to record events on various satellites as well as recording programs (SD and HD) on 87W, 99W, and 125W and haven't had any problems recording to the 1TB internal drive. I do watch MeTV on 101W but hadn't recorded anything on it.

After reading the posts here I made some sample recordings on the A3 and immediately saw the problem with the A3 recording of MeTV. I didn't see a problem with the 60 second recording of KCWY I made on the A3 so the TP recording I made of that transponder was 90 seconds.

Just in case T134 needs them, I've posted a 60 second complete TP recording of TP 3974V (MeTV) on 101W and a 90 second complete TP recording of TP 3776H (KCWY13) on 99W over at the fridge. The recordings were made using the TP record setting on an Amiko HD-8240 since that's what T134 usually asks for.

Dee_Ann,

See, you do, do good. Your posts and reports on your activities help many users, you just don't realize it or see it. I'm guessing that T134 will get to the bottom of the recording issue and at some point we will see a fix. I'll take a peak at Movies and see what I see. The last time I was there everything seemed normal, but I can't really remember when that was or if it was even on the A3.

How do you delete/clear scanned channels on a chosen satellite? I randomly scanned satellites and now they don't appear in order.

Edit: Never mind. I found a tutorial at FridgeFTA.

Posting a link instead of just saying "Hey, I figured it out". Cool! You get an A+ from me today, I wish everybody always followed through like that.

Thank you.

I’m not holding my breath though.
At least I have the MicroHD to record with. Can’t use it though until I get my C2WPLL’s at the end of the month.
Can’t record but at least I can watch so that’s better than nothing.

I don’t post at fridge, I don’t think I would be well received there. I just joined so I could get downloads for my A3.
I’ll leave the technical stuff to you guys and just hope they fix it one day.
