Singing a cappella is much more difficult than with accompaniment and the audio was not set up for singing, ie. no reverb which is standard for all singers to smooth out the voice and add depth. It was also sprung on her when she was not prepared physically or, more importantly, mentally.
Lets not vilify the parents. From experience I know some children love to follow one thing they know they are good at. I work with some of these kids that push themselves harder and have a blast pursuing their strength. I've seem my share burn out and move on to other things. I have also seen some that blossom and make their pursuit a career. This goes for sports, music, art, technical and other disciplines. We don't know this girl or her family, but she appears to love what she does. Believe me, if it's the parent that is pushing more than the child wants, you can see right through it!
