America's Got Talent Season 5

I told my wife that if they kept Ronick or whatever his name is, his next impression should have been Hannibal Means. Could you have seen that one? LOL. At least he wont "be baaack"
Thank goodness they got rid of both Ronick and Hannibal...those guys were driving me nuts! While I cannot wait for Mary Ellen to get booted...unfortunately, we all have to listen to here (and see here) once again. Ugh!

I probably watched half of last night's show. With the exception of Frenchie (the dancer) all the acts were lame and worthy of being voted off. Were there any good acts the 2nd half of the show? I know Pierce keeps saying this is the strongest field yet for AMG...but I don't see it - very weak IMO.

P.S. even the harmonica guy better than many of the acts playing during the first 70-minutes or so.

Better, but overall a forgettable show. The bike guy was pretty daring.

My picks for tonight's show:

Green - Advancing
Yellow - Maybe
Red - Gone

Da Maniacs - da gone!
Nu Covenant - see ya!
Anna and Patryk - may get through, but I wouldn't vote for 'em
Lindsey Stirling - I like her, but she was a fish out water tonight (gone!)
Doogie Horner - I don't like him, but he'll probably get voted through
Rudi Macaggi - he'll get voted through
Taylor Matthews - slight possibility
Mary Ellen - somebody please shoot her!
ArcAttack - I don't think the act played well for the TV audience
Prince Poppycock - I like him...hope he get through
Murray - he'll get through
Strikers All Stars - gone

The kid dancers might get through.

Doogie was aweful.

None of the other dance acts should go through.

And the Van de Graaff generator people didn't do anything that hasn't been seen by anyone at a good science museum. The music WAS NOT generated by the Van de Graaff. The music amplitude controlled the voltage of the generator causing it to throw out electrical streams in time with the music, but not too well because of the variations in the air.

I was unimpressed with this particular show but the judges all say it was the best of the 4? I think they need to watch it again on TV to gain perspective.

I also don't know why the producers of the show have to throw in an obvious "comic relief" awful act in each show instead of keeping some of the other acts that looked good in the vegas second and third tier auditions.

What I would love to see in any of these talent shows is a "viewer override". I would love to see all the auditions unedited (beginning to end of each performer) without judge comment back-to-back on one of the hundreds of channels these networks own.

ie American Idol shows their heavily edited auditions show and that weekend there is a marathon on G4 or FX or whatever showing you all the auditions unedited with a 30 second commercial between each audition. No judge comments. And on they open a reaction web page where there is immediate reaction good or bad to the auditioner.

I just hate it when some one makes it to the live shows that you never saw on the heavily edited auditions shows.

The judges/producers probably picked the top 10-15. It is not hard to look through them all and see which ones would be the most appealing. Then it really does not matter much what the other 30 acts of the finalists are, they are really just filler. So, throwing a few zingers in for entertainment and the chance for Piers to berate them for entertainment is just for fun, and did not really hurt anyone. It is not like there was a winner that was denied because they wanted some entertainment.

They need to have a lot of episodes, so they fill up them up with a lot of acts that they know would never really make it. They pick a lot that have a good backstory, even if they are not talented. I doubt that any of the top 12 were a surprise to the producers/judges. But, if they went to top 12 right away, they would miss 8 episodes of TV time.

Pretty much the way I felt it went. Anna and Patryk really are spectacular for dancers as young as they are. I actually think Taylor Matthews will get voted through by voters because they "think he's cute".

Yep, the kid dancers are really terrific for their age, but we all know that professional adult dancers would put them to shame. Taylor Matthews is impossible not to like---and he may very well get voted throug---but he is just not talented enough IMO. On a side note, I hope this is the last season where singers are allowed to compete.

I did not expect ArcAttack to go through. Looking at their act again, there was absolutely NOTHING about it I liked. The music was bad (sorry Sharon, but I never liked your husband's music), the music was poorly performed and all these people did was stand there and let physics do its thing with a Van de Graaff generator.

But when it came to the kid dancers and ArcAttack I wasn't so sure which way it would go. There were no surprises with the other three sets of acts as it was so obvious which act was the best in each set. I would be interested to know which act actually got the most amount of votes between the two.

OK, I am trying to figure out the point behind the Youtube performers on tonight's show. Why have live auditions and several elimination rounds when someone can step right into the competition from Youtube? Also, do these Youtube acts really suck or am I just in a bitter mood this evening? I find myself looking for a stage hook to whisk these pretenders away.
